How to clean inside of goggles?

We all know if you wipe inside you lose the antifog, but that doesn't mean the inside stays clean. What do you do to get the spots off?

I never touch the inside of my goggles with anything, but I know people who wipe the inside with a microfiber cloth. I'm pretty sure it's the oils from your skin that can damage the anti-fog layer, but I may be wrong.

Don't do this! Usually they tell you when you buy the goggle but dab the inside with the microfiber bag.

I rarely wipe the inside of my goggles. When I do, I make sure the inside is dry and wipe the inside with the microfiber cloth. I don't think it affects the anti-fog when it's dry, only with water does it affect it.

At Scott we say let the lens air dry or dab dry with a soft clean cloth. Avoid wiping the inside of the lens when wet as this may damage the No Fog™ Lens treatment. Do not expose to chemicals or harsh detergents. Do not expose to extreme heat (100° F) such as car dashboards or heater vents. Do not lay the goggles on the lens. Scratched lenses are not covered by warranty Store dry goggles in a warm dry place. There ya be.

When you're skiing super deep pow, lenses inevitably fog up. I destroyed some oakleys by wiping the inside. Then I got some I/Os and when they do fog up on the occasions im skiing over the head blower, the anti fog doesn't come off if you clean the inside.

yeah yeah, never touch the inside when wet, try to never wipe it at all, only dab/wipe when it's completely dry inside, blah blah ok.

but what happens when you eat shit on the hill and get some snow in your goggles? do you really have to go inside and sit for an hour waiting for it all to evaporate? Someone needs to invent a better anti fog coating.

i break all the "rules" for lens cleaning all the time.

rub the inside when it's wet or fogged, use a cotton t-shirt to wipe em, use my fingers, etc.

i've never had a problem with oakleys, smiths, or giros. that's just me though, i've heard of lots of people who haven't had my luck.

The tools who rated down this post obviously missed the fact that Cat Crap is a legit product and it actually works if your anti-fog gets screwed up.

Get learned n00bs. The lens on my Crowbars got permafogged when I got snow in them and tried to carefully clean them out. It doesn't matter how careful you are, sometimes the antifog gets screwed up. Cat crap worked and I was able to get the lens back as good as new. Just takes microfiber clothe, cat crap and patience.

Cat Crap will void all warranties on all major goggle manufactures for lens related issues. Just sayen.

Smith has a different (and better) anti fog treatment than other brands. We dont use an anti fog spray that can be wiped off, we have a hydrophilic chemical treatment called 5x Anti fog that creates a micro-etched surface on the inner lens to absorb moisture before fog can form. Because Fog-X is a treatment that is actually burned into the lens, it can’t be wiped away like other anti-fog coatings.

if there are sunscreen or sweat smudges on the inside of your Smith lens, you can even washout the inside of our lenses in a sink (take them out of the goggle frame first) to get them clear again.

No matter what brand of goggle you have, you want to bring them inside at night (take out of pack or bag) to air them out, otherwise you could have some fogging problems the next day. Hope that helps

well i just went and wiped, got alot of small scratched on the inside while doing so, but this screen cleaner stuff call screen dr did the trick, the scratches aren't visible when on, still annoying i got a bunch of small scratches now. we'll see if it fogs up this weekend. oakley crowbars btw.
