Just skiied Canyons yesterday, whats the norm at that resort.

So I just moved down to Utah from Idaho. My buddy got a free pass to the Canyons and he was unable to go so he gave it to me.

I went there yesterday, and it seemed that their were a lot of tourists, and a lot of snowboarders in the park.
The whole day I was their I only saw probably 4 or so real skiiers who looked local and that could actually shred (they were filming in transitions)

After my first impression of the resort I really have no desire to go back to that place, as it had zero vibe of like having real skiiers their. Both in the park and all over the mountain.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't basing my judgement of the place off a bad one time experience.

Anyways, I'm heading to PC on Friday so we'll see how that goes.

I haven't been to the canyons but you will like pc. There are a ton of park skiers there.

If it was good they wouldn't be wasting time $$$ and effort trying to figure out how to send skiers over to the bcc and better terrain.

Canyons is mostly roads and flat spots. Stick with pcmr

There's really no reason to ride the PC resorts for anything other than park. If you want to see people ripping up the rest of the mountain, you need to head to the Cottonwoods.

Canyons is reaaalllll strange dude, I've been there a couple times and it's always like that. You see a ton of the stereotypical "Skittle Kids" there. It's the first place I've been in several years where I've seen super layered tall tees on kids that can barely straight slide a box. It's definitely fun everyonce in a while though

Check out PC, you'll have fun. Pipe party saturday and gaper day monday, perfect first weekend for you to be here haha is gonna be so fun

Depends on what you're looking for, I guess. If you're just there for park you're probably not going to be overly impressed, esp if you were expecting it to be as dialed as their next door neighbor resort. I had my season pass their last year and went back to PCMR this year but it definitely has some appeal if you like to get into the backcountry and some bigger lines. It's not AltaBird but there is good terrain there- the problem, and my main complaint, was just the layout of the resort. Lifts...to get to lifts... to get to lifts... to get to lifts...

So that being said I wouldn't give up on the place. Most people's first impression (including mine) was very "meh" but it grows on you the more you learn the mtn.
