Pads in the park

I don't know anything about shoulder pads. I asked my doc if they were worth it and he said they would protect against bruises but not separations or breaks. But he is a doctor that doesn't ski, much mess park, so I don't know how accurate that was.

I wear crash pads on my legs and a knee brace or soft mesh knee pads on icy days. Adds a little protection without being bulky but it is still possible to get pretty bruised if you are taking nasty falls.

Of nothing else, it will give you the confidence to go harder and faster and push yourself more so I say go for it.

If you don't mind the little extra weight, crash pads can seriously prevent breaks and possibly sprains and other serious injurys.

My friend swears by them now ever sense he destroyed is back doing a 2 on to a rail. He now uses a body crash pad that has a spine protector as well as a pair of crash shorts.


As for myself, I think if I could afford a pair of shorts I would just due to the fact that I hit my hips a lot on rails and crashes and what not so I could prevent a lot of bruising just having them.

I have the demon protective top, and pants. I got them for Xmas. After using both of them for the remainder of the season I can def say they are bad ass. The top consists of shoulder pads, rib pads, elbow pads, and spine protector. The material the padding is made of is nuts. It has a hard plastic layer, and then an impact absorption layer, all of which is very thin and conforming to your body, like a glove. Both the top and pants fit extremely well, are very light weight, and are not bulky and don't restrict movement at all. No one will notice that you wear any type of pads. It fits that snug, like a compression shirt.

I'd play it safe and lay low until it is completely healed. That may not be what you want to hear, but I don't think that there is anything that can prevent you from re-breaking it. It would probably be something really unexpected and stupid that would cause you to re-injure it, like falling over in the liftline. My neighbor and a previous partner in crime for suburban jibbing, broke his collar bone, didn't let it completely heal and rebroke it. Shoulders are worse. We have a friend who is going to have a total shoulder replacement, because she played competitive volleyball. Better to hang them up for awhile versus possibly having to live with chronic pain for the rest of your life. Most positive vibes to you. Heal up buddy and live to shred again.

second this. crash pads are a great idea to prevent bruises and breaks from impact to your hips, ass, and back. they wont do anything against the kind of torquing pressure that causes shoulder and collarbone injuries.

Football on skis..? no we dont want that, or at least i dont

Never used any pads besides the good ol' helmet. Simply because I feel like anything on your upperbody/back is going to completely fuck up your ability to arch your body for inverts. But then again I could be 100% wrong

I have one of those POC VPD jackets and there's been some falls that I sure was glad I had it for. The shoulder pads and chest pad are what I see as the most valuable parts of it; they really help save your body on hard falls.
