Poles here is why:
- stability. Poles are designed to reinforce side forces when you walk or turn. The poles also have a great energy storing capacity and can be used for emergency maneuvers through the trees and cliffs
-Skiers wear poles, ski bladers do not. We all know how ski bladers are awesome.
-Multi purpose tool. Not kidding the thing can become a hammer, an arm extension, crutches, Make noise and as a weapon.

But we did sort this question out in 2008. We all agreed on "Fuck you noob".

No poles in the park considering they really have no function. Its like carrying weights around and makes it harder to grab. I ski better in the park without poles.

I use poles anywhere else on the mountain considering they have a function.

Some days I use polls, some days I don't. Depends how I feel, how sore/strong my legs are, whether I can bend down to pop off my skis with my hands or not, etc.

For me, poles. leave ur poles out and you are an ready aerialist man. + looks more dumb, and everybody knows that skiing is all about looking good in the hill. tricks come after that. (<not)

I don't even know why i'm answering the thread but basically the same thing with me - I had a thumb injury and skied without poles for a while and then just kept doing it because it felt like i was more free. I use poles while outside the park tho (which rarely happens because of where i ski).

i typically use poles as they give me better balance for some reason, but i recently got one pole stolen (who the fuck steals one pole?) and ive been riding no poles and i actually dont mind it so much

I've been rocking no poles lately. It is a bit more fun, but anything difficult I'm hitting with poles, especially when im trying something new on jumps.

Poles are a mental thing for me. I ski in the park with them because they make me feel reassured and comfortable.

Personally I rode all this year without poles and it is the funnest, they actually aren't that useful except when the chairlift line is not all flat and you have some difficulty moving. It takes a little bit of getting used to but it is awesome the liberty that you have to grab your skies. I live it !

Mr. Bishop I hope this is semi valid.. But I think a lot of my bias towards the no poles is A. I am old, and B. I used to work for a Pole Company..haha

Ohhhh boy.. Love this debate..And I will get hated on pretty hard for this but hey the truth hurts kiddos...

There are about 15-20 people in the world that make skiing without poles cool, or look good. Latest example I have seen, Watch Maad Maude 2 She has style for days. Wally in his Jesus Edit, Henrik and Phil, Pep and Andy, Simon when he was hurt, etc etc all looked good.  85% of the kids out there skiing without poles in the park you look like a fish out of water flopping around on the shore. Arms waiving around in the air everywhere and slapping down on the ground every time you land switch is not cool. Use poles when you are learning how to ski park for balance and to keep you from flailing like a wounded duck falling from the sky. And then when you're style is up to par with Maude and those others feel free to ditch them.

And please stop walking all over my shit in the lift line..
