However, cold ruthless logic is being used by you, and I can't stand anything less than ignoring logic.

Here's the problem: That's always been how contests are. Look back....99/100, the person spinning and flipping more than everyone else is the winner. All the way back to the first X big air where a switch 7 won.

It's simply judging degree of difficulty as the highest part of the judging mix.

Most judging is based off of three factors:

-degree of difficulty
-style (form in classic aerials)
-amplitude (Height in pipe, distance in big air)

Theoretically you can weight those however you want, and your contest would be judged based on what you have.

The issue that most people who say "too many flips/spins are the devil" have is the idea of how style is being scored. Some define style as simply getting the grab, so would assign a high style score to a trip cork whatever as long as there was hand to ski contact and some crossing.

Some would argue (myself included) that slow fluid and smooth rotation, mixed with slow, calculated body movements is the only way to get it, thusly making the rapid movements of a future spin impossible to have style.

The latter is how amped 2 scores the game, and is the reason that slow calculated style is the only way to pass levels.

Degree of difficulty and amplitude aren't subjective so it's easy to judge those with consistency. Style is more akin to dance or art, and as such is open to interpretation. The haters of future spins would judge that a triple will always have shitty style due to the fast and arguably flailing movements, where its supporters would say that if they grabbed and crossed they get their full style points.

In my mind the problem is that we're using 'form' instead of style. This is what classic aerials uses and is defined by holding the 'perfect' body position better than anyone else. For them that is perfect pencil Steeze, for us it is tucked up in a ball with one hand down and some sort of cross. Yes, the trip cork has sweet form, but It doesn't have smooth beautiful style.

This is going to make it so that by 2045 the hornbeck equivalent will even have a dub 1170 onto urban rails, and it's gonna be gay cause any random kid can do it.

Maybe you just used my post as a springboard to break it all down, but to be clear, when I pointed out that contests are typically won by the guy outflipping and spinning the competition, I wasn't really judging that per se.

It's quantifiable, so it's logical that "degree of difficulty" (because isn't even that in and of itself debatable and somewhat subjective?) and even amplitude would be weighted more than an intangible, almost entirely subjective criteria like style.

But, alas, I've written maybe a dozen friggin' novels on this subject on this website over the last 5 years or so, so I'll leave it at that.
