its almost time to dedicate our lives to golf...so i have found this app thats apparently suppose to help you work on your golf game and give you mini sponsors... they are getting ready to release it so sign up to get the latest news on it by signing up!
I can dig it I haven't picked up a club in 2 months I really need to get back into my mode and what do you guys shoot? In the prime time of your season?
and for those who want to play some golf right now while you're bored. Check out WTG, https://www.wgt.com/. I used to play alot and its pretty fun. You can enter tournaments and play some famous courses.
I use to play an ok amount when i was younger (H/S middle school age) went some years without playing/playing once. I hit the driving range still on the regular and chipped around my yard all the time before I move out. Could drive about 300 regularly straight on no problems, my wedge game is my best, within 10 feet regularly up to 125 yards Id say. After that who knowns.
I only use 4 clubs max ever, driver (up to 325) , wedge (up to 125), 7 iron (up to 155-170 say), and a putter. I don't really see a need for more clubs. I get screwed on long par 5's some times but I'm no pro anyway.
I need new clubs though. No I don't need an 1100$ set of irons, they wont make me any better than using maxflys. Same with balls, using a 20$ pro v1 isnt going to make me any better than my cheapo 10$ box buy one get one free special balls.
What does ns recommend for me, remember I'm on a pretty tight budget. Id rather play more golf with worse clubs, that less with the best clubs as I'll have no money for course fees.
Also, I need shoes. I usually play in Birkenstocks, for some reason its how I play my best. Courses dont particularly like it though,so i figured I should get some shoes. Are 50$ shoes ok? Thanks,
just copped an R11S from Taylor Made, best drivers on the market IMO (Titliest is better but so expense and have to get custom fit) pumped to tee them up in a few weeks
Just get some basic shoes that will last you a while. Foot joy makes comfy ones that won't break the bank. Fr clubs, it al depends. Buying a set of used clubs from a few years ack will make them
Much more affordable. Go to your local golf shop and test out some different brands, then go online and try to fun a used set.
As far as shoes go, you want shoes that are comfortable. The last thing you want golfing is hurting feet. I would also recommend a shoe thats water resistant/proof. I bought a pair of addidas golf shoes like 4 years ago for $60 and i still wear them. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. So your budget of $50 should be just fine.
Golf is Life. I live in New England which is unfortunate because our season is cut short due to Winter. I spend my Winter skiing and playing Golf on the Simulator in my local club.
I am being looked at by a few schools including Clemson and OK State.
Not sure how I am going to handle being halfway across the country though. Anyone hear go to OK State?
just got some new callaway razr x irons and a couple new callaway fairway woods. Im ready for golf but i really don't want to go to practice while theres still 1' of snow on the ground.
But honestly probably couldn't hit the ball 50 yards with my irons in the fairway. I could prolly still chip and put but that's about it. I live on a golf course and I didn't even go once last year. I dun fell off
I prolly can't even finish a hole. First would be a shank, second would be a long drive. Next 7 shots would be getting to the green, then I could probably 2 putt and and say fuck this and go home.
This thread makes me really want to get into golf. I used to go maybe once a year couple years back. I have a decent drive and I'm not that bad at putting (probably am now).
I could probably use my dads clubs consideringine were tiny way back when.
Should I just go to the non-member course down the road from me (super cheap 9-hole course, not the best not the worse) and just play a round and see how I do? I would probably drive some balls at the driving range.
If I do get back into it, should I get a cheaper pair of used irons? Any places for good deals?
really hoping to step my game up this summer. im only 15 and still pretty small but i was shooting low to mid 40s from senior tees last year. im really hoping to get a lot better this year
Definitely go and play a round and see how you like it! Don't be so hard on yourself either during the round but just have fun. For deals check out the website I posted above or if you have like a 2nd Swing store around you go check it out.
work at a nice golf course 15 minutes away from me. Hoping to lower my handicap to a 8 so i can qualify for the halton/south ontario tour. Golf is pretty much what I do spring, summer, and early fall
Half the people who say they can hit a 300 yard drive cant even come close to that. I hit 285-290 on the regular in mid season, with my longest drive(slightly downhill with a breeze) being at 336. I also hit about 185 with a 7 iron, which honestly Id rather not hit it that far, but I manage. Buuut I love golf. Absolutely. Actually went out and played with another member of this forum last week when we still had snow on our course(no it wasnt open, but the groundskeeper gave no fucks). Saved par out of a sandtrap filled with snow. Probably the only time Ill ever do that.
Never really got into golf even after working at a course and having free golf the past 5 years. The game is so frustrating and boring, idk. I broke 80 thru 18 once, but that's probably the best I'll ever do.
See if your club or driving range sells used clubs, you can usually find some barely used nice irons that a rich guy doesnt want anymore for a pretty good deal.
if youre a 14 year old boy i might be tough. once you hit puburty and have your man body its pretty straight forward esp with a roll. If you have a nice driver 250 and a roll should be done all day every shot. I went to dicks last year and bought the cheepest driver there 40$, edned up beig a womans driver...whatever, Still manage to drive out of the back of my local range in the air on the regular which is listed at 275.
All these claims I don't even. I probably drive 250-275. Then I hit my 9 150-160 with 10 yard intervals between each club. I have this stupid fucking draw and I can't get rid of it.
I'm SO EXCITED TO GOLF AGAIN!! This is the first summer in a while that I haven't tried to focus on my baseball swing so I can finally swing a club again... IT WILL BE GLORIOUS
It seems like this thread is about how far you can hit your driver.... Driver is the last thing you want to worry about and really is the least important club in the bag. Most good golfers would be bragging about how many 1 putts they have a round.
You hit your putter the most out of any club. Essentially being the most important. When it does come down too the total score yes the iron shots or approach may affected your score. But play from the hole out.
No, its difficult for anybody. If you think you hit it 300-310 on average you are better than a vast majority of the PGA tour. The average distance driven on tour is 285 yards. Granted, some are quite a bit longer and some are shorter, but thats the overall average. And they have perfectly fit gear as well which drastically increases performance.
yeah, putting takes up half of your score or more if you hit ever GIR within a single round. Crazy to think about, but yeah, perfecting short game is the way to go if you want to lower your score.
Not sure if i believe this, an really jealous, or you play all par 3's. Averaging around 4 stokes per hole, means you're pretty damn good assuming you don't play mulligans, hit the pin its in, re-dos (all my favorite ways to play)...
If thats true thats awesome. My brother is a scratch golfer and watching him is crazy. Every shot is perfect. Like literally every shot. It seems like every round he will do something crazy. Stick it from like 175 or reach a par 5 in two.
And that draw he hits. Oh man, his drives look like they were shot out of a howitzer.
I shoot mid-high 80s. Only broken 80 a few times. Got a hole in one though
just played yesterday on 9 holes. For a someone who doesn't play very often 9 holes is perfect. I gotta get out more though.. Positive note, I finally beat my Dad on a hole. First time ever, though I did miss the birdie putt from 10 feet to kill him on the hole. Hes a 4 handicap.
