Sup guys! So I'm having a hard time deciding what skis to get for next season! I ride hard pack in MN and I can't decide between the throwbacks of the AR7's or the Halo!? I can 2sev on and of rails and I'm starting to learn rodeos and corks and I'm wondering what would be the best armada ski for my situation! I'll be hitting rails about 40%and jumps 60%! HELP!!! Any other suggestions welcome!!! Idk, maybe even Line Chronics?
AR7s are good, so are the Chronics. I tried the Halos (well, Alpha1 actually but it's more or less the same thing) and I absolutely hated them. Would not recommend. Some people love them though, but it seems to be a bit hit or miss. I wouldn't buy them without trying them first.
On the other hand, never heard anyone say how they hate the AR7s or Chronics.
I was expecting them to be super playful (like the ultimate rail/jib ski) because of the rocker. Instead they were pretty stiff and as a result didn't butter nearly as easily as I expected. Well, they were stiff so I thought maybe they would be really stable then. No such luck, because of the rocker the running length was so short that it really hurt the ski's stability. Carving felt weird too, but they were on demo bindings mounted who-knows-where so I tried not to judge that too much.
My main impression was that they tried to combine playfulness and stability (a VERY hard thing to do) and as a result kind of missed the mark on both.
Then again, it could be that the ski just didn't suit my skiing style.
That's fair enough, It took me a few days or so to get used to the carving.. I remember the first casual turn I tried coming out of the chairlift, ended with me on my ass..
I understand what you mean on the shape/stiffness. My halos aren't stiff, but they aren't soft either. Good thing is they spin fast!
The Alpha 1's primary focus is more towards jumps, with the Halo's toward jibbing. I own a pair of Halo's, and have ridden Alpha 1's and despite the same shape both skis feel quite different flex wise.
Alright guys! sounds like its all personal preferance! i kinda want to go with the AR7's then! But would a stiffer ski be better for jumps? like the halos?
