HUGE slide in the Ravine this weekend. D4 R4 whcih for those of you dont know avy terms it means that 60-80% of the whole ravine broke away with enough snow to bury a house. Biggest slide of the year so far.

Be careful up there guys and bring your beacon probe and shovel

Planning on mid-April to early May depending on conditions. I will have room in my car for one more person and will be leaving form Burlington, VT. I would prefer someone with some knowledge of Tuck's as I have never been there before. PM me if anyone is interested.

I am going up on monday and tuesday hopefully it softens up right now its super icy, Do you need snowshoes for sherburn trail i have a pair and debatting whether to bring them or not?

the hiking trail was super hard last weekend, i assume that it is still firm so i would say no to the snowshoes. are you planning to hike in hiking boots? if so, micro spikes could be helpful

Im hiking up in hiking boots then switching to my full tilts when i get to the bowl. It sounds like things are pretty icy up in the bowl right now but still soft on the trail. I will most likely bring a small set of snowshoes and see how it is

Was just up Monday. Godly. Just micro spiked up and switched to my ski boots on the rocks. Not bad, skied sherburne all the way to the car, and the snow was incredible. Saw some kids building a jump up there and just giggled.

i was up today and skied left gully, super soft up in the bowl but sherburne is getting some iffy spots and grass is starting to show towards the bottom it was super windy in the bowl tho

Driving back from Sunday River through northern NH, took some pics of the awesome sunset up there yesterday, there's still a ton of snow up at Tucks and along the range so it seems. Looked almost like a glacier haha.

Also drove by Canon which still had big rollers and maybe jumps and stuff from during the season as well as lots of snow.

Just out of curiosity, can you ski something as steep as tucks with park/all mntn skis that are progressive mounted

I would say it depends on a couple of conditions. If the skis have edges and have not been used on rails that will help if the snow is hard. Second, if you are a good skier, it will most likely not be a problem, people go up there in the spring time with close to center mounted twin tips all the time, just be prepared to get thrown around a little.

Apparently there's half a mile of grass on the bottom that you have to hike to get back to your car. And every week about a mile more will melt. This is what my friend's uncle told him who told me.

its definitely melting but i don't think its melting at a mile a week, especially with the cold temps we've been having it probably didn't get above freezing at the base yesterday

you should head up tomorrow, its going to be such a good day. skied it today and the snow was still good, you can ski the sherburne about half way to the bottom. it is well covered most of the way, only a few small rocks, there is one section at the bottom that you have to walk down a little but overall its not too bad

Came back from tucks. Did right gully, hellmen's, and lower snowfields. Watch for ice on the head wall, was hiking up to the bowl and what looked like a 50ft slab of ice fell off the mountain on asscenders right. That was a quarter mile away and that shit was loud when it fell.

^damn. My friend and I are thinking of going next Wednesday. Don't care too much how good it was be but do you guys think it'll be worth it? We've never been so we wanna just do it to say we did really.

Its worth it. Its going to be the steepest angle you will have ever skiied if you have never been out west. If your going bring extra water. The well is broken at the base hut. Also wear a crap ton of sunscreen. Wear good boots and if you have some sort of crampon bring it with you.

I was up there saturday the 4th and there was still some good stuff. The Lip and the whole right side of the headwall is undermined with waterfalls and definitely done for the season. Left Gully and The Chute were the best options and there was some fun stuff on the left side of the headwall if you billy goated around a bit.

Went up Saturday even though it was raining the whole day.  Still managed to get some fun turns in the chute.  For the moment anything in the middle or right side of the bowl is pretty sketchy (and I think "closed").  There were some large chunks of falling ice coming down the headwall.

It seemed to me like both had been really bumped up but then the rain/fog had sort of smoothed everything out so the bumps were less defined.  It's basically just fun slushy turns in there right now without having to navigate through big moguls.

the auto road provides easy access to the upper snowfields and the terrain in the great gulf including airplane and pipeline gully, both of these are a short hike from the top!
