Thoughts on the Gini Rigs?

Hey M&A,

im about to make a pretty beefy order for some new gear and I was thinking about throwing one of those GiniRigs into the order.

I am not sure how many of you have used Gini's but I have seen a couple posts of people talking about them.

Please let me know! I would love to know how they are, durability, flexibility for shots, etc.

meh, from what i've seen and heard, they are all right, but not great. I think there isn't a great amount of quality control and accuracy, so some of the 15mm holes are hard to tighten down and some are tight to get stuff in. I personally would suggest something like berkey systems, redrock micro, etc for a simple shoulder rig. All the other stuff like cages and whatnot on the gini are oversized and unnecessary, not to mention impractical. Get a badass cage for your FS like the cinevate or the berkey handle/cheeseplates. Much better and practical use of your money

I would agree. It seems like most of the pieces on the Gini are kind of gimmicky. From personal experience redrock rigs are awesome! Great durability, very precise, and has many options for use. Although I have never used other 15mm rails

100% disagree. The quality of my rig is impeccable. Everything tightens down quickly and smoothly. The follow focus is so damn smooth. For the same money you are not going to find a better rig.

Never used the gini but i sent the Genustech rig and i love. Such nice quality. Check them out. genustech.tv Its a verry simple design. I like it alot

When I first started out 3 years ago I got a Gini rig for about $300. I loved it, worked great, pretty solid. After using it every couples days things slowly started to break down. The biggest issue I had were the rods, and how they screw together. They always ended up getting lose. However, once I started to make more money, I started to upgrade the parts. The first thing I upgraded was the shoulder pad. However I basically have a RedRock rig.

I really would recommend getting a Gini rig. Then once you start to have an issue, upgrade that part.
