Jon Brogan - "Right Back Where We Started" segment

I continue to be amazed when I login to this site and see yet another Jon Brogan thread. The same couple edits always get reposted and kids wonder, when will he be back, where is he!? Well the disappointing truth is he probably won't be caught on camera wearing skis ever again, he has moved on.

I hadn't seen this little segment of him anywhere its from a movie i made a couple years ago. It's been buried in the full length version. Enjoi more rarely seen Brogan.

pretty lame that hes just a quitter. I dont know the full reason why he quit but if it was cause he didnt like the direction skiing was going why didnt he just push the sport in his own way? do his own thing with skiing?

I don't think he just "quit," I don't know all the details but if I remember correctly he was hurt pretty seriously in a car accident, which may be a reason for him taking a step back form skiing.

maybe he wanted to do something with his life? you have to realize that people such as brogan, wesson, parry, vila, and cam riley dont make to much money off of the sport. im sure this isnt the only reason he did it, but I know many skiers that don't have a degree, or even go to school. once they hit 30, they are fucked.

terrible argument cause guys like Tom are in university and still do a ton of comps and filming. Even if brogan had a full time job im sure he could make an edit on the weekend or something

From what i understand, Brogan was just over the skiing scene and wanted to direct his energ towards his main passion, music.

kind of in the same boat, (not the getting paid part) but now after a really bad head injury (my family was called to come down to the hospital that night because they didn't think I'd pull through.) i think im not going to be skiing to munch next year and just concentrate on my school work. 4.0 all day studying all weekend like a boss.

Since when was the ski community something that you had to be a constantly contributing member of? Skiing isn't the Screen Actor's Guild, you stupid shit. Just because he doesn't ski in edits for you pathetic fanboys to drool over doesn't mean he's no longer a part of the ski community... whatever the fuck that means.

Here's another one for you obsessed 14 year old fags to jerk it to. He can do whatever the fuck he wants. Skiing isn't everything and once you get older it will be hard to make a living of it and your body will be completely wrecked and put through hell leaving you to spend lots of money on back surgeries and beg your doctor for painkillers because it hurts so bad and all you little teenagers are abusing them and overdosing so its damn near impossible to get them for legit pain nowdays. You will suffer for going big for 15 years and fall after fall. Your back will be straight fucked.

Not sure why you mentioned Vila or Cam, both are going to school at CU in addition to running and filming for a production company. Sure they don't make a ton of money but they make enough to travel around. Also Clayton being picked up by monster probably didn't hurt his wallet.

Some big names in this edit, all these guys just kill it today, including nick miles.

Majority of the brogan shots are 1:30-2:00, used to watch it constantly. 1:36 has to be the smoothest bs sw up ever.

DUMB POST. Brogan was in a car accident and was hospitalized for quite a while. Its not that he didnt like where skiing was going, he got seriously injured. I dont know exactly why he didnt try to make a come back, but some injuries are too painful or severe to push the boundaries in skiing.

I'm gonna catch some flak for this one, but I never really liked watching brogan. He had amazing style in the air and great landings, don't get me wrong, but the way he moved his head and swung his arms when he landed always looked silly to me, kind of like he was trying too hard to look smooth. Anyways, it's a shame that he doesn't ski anymore and I feel like if he stopped doing that rideaway I would have liked him a lot more.

dude, i'm 30, I moved away from skiing when I had a shot at a "real" job. I made a bit of money with skiing to pay for some bills and managed to get a degree while filming and competing (not at the highest level).

I moved on but I still try to get out there when I can and shred.

I managed to have a full segment last year while working full time as a school teacher. I didnt get that much support from my sponsors cause I had gone under the radar big time. That didnt matter cause I did it because I wanted to and I had fun doing it.


It's all about making choices.

I've never really understood this viewpoint. Yeah, skiing is blowing up, and comp skiing is starting to become very specialized and "athletic" (All skiing takes athletic skill, but I mean like training, hitting the gym, etc.) Still though, for the vast majority of skiers, skiing is going out to the hill/urban rail/backyard setup and just having fun with your friends and pushing your limits. Just because there are some jock skiers out there doesn't mean you can't have fun on skis in your own way.

Not calling out Brogan or Warnick here specifically, but just a general statement.

You proved my point when you said you moved on. Im sure he isnt done skiing for the rest of his life, he just may not wanna be in front of the lens anymore. If skiers are going to school and putting out segs at the same time, then good for them. Im just saying, there is a time in life for "pros" when they make skiing a hobby and not a job/passion, and maybe thats what he wanted.
