Buying a new Camera/DSLR

What is your budget? 2000 CAD max (lens not included)

 How much money can you spend right away, and do you think you can get more money to invest in the future? I'm buying a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 soon and already have a 50-300 nikkor...

What experience do you already have with cameras? I have alot of experience. Film making for 6 years now.

Have you ever even used one before? Using a canon hand held camera and Nikon d3100

Have you helped your friend out with his camera?  Yeps

Have you owned your own? Obviously

What gear, if any, do you currently have? (tripod, old camera lenses, mics, etc) Have 2 Shitty tripods,
18-55 kit lens, lenses mentionned above and planing on buying a RODE video mic.

What are you planning to shoot and how do you want to use your camera? Short films, projects, etc

 Are you going to use this with the sole purpose of shooting skiing? Nope, but mostly sports/Landscapes

Do you want a camera that you can hand to your friends, that could or could not have film experience, and let them shoot you? Nope i'm filming and no noobs are touching my baby.

When filming skiing, how do you tend to shoot? (follow cams, leave it on record on a tripod and hike, film from a tripod, etc? Big fan of follow cams, zoom shots, hate tripod shots...

I have A GAMING COMPUTER THAT CAN HANDLE ALOT...

What program do you currently edit on?  Sony vegas Pro 12 + Adobe after Effects CS5

How familiar are you with it (1- just learning; 10- I can make tutorials and know the keyboard layout) Highly Familiar (9)

Gh2/3 comes to mind, get a decent tripod, you'll want it for your interviews. Then you can get a glidecam+more lenses with leftover cash

GH2 or GH3, but if you like nikon's stuff, check out the D7100. Leaves you around 800 bucks under and it's pretty damn good with the AF system of it's pro model flagship FF brothers. Also does 1080 at 60fps if that's your fetish. Maybe check out a D800 or something if you wanna plan a bit ahead and have a pretty beefy, quality camera. Doesn't do 1080 at 60fps and a bit over your budget but checking buying used never hurt anyone, and I thought I'd throw that out there! Message me I wanna hear what you think

Get the Panasonic GH3. It is far better quality than the Canon or Nikon Dslr's and is amazing in low light. I have just used it to film my junkies on a budget segment as well as course checks at X games in tignes. with 1080 60p 50mb/s it is amazing. it has a 2x converter built in as well as an intervalometer for time-lapse and the stabiliser on the 14-140mm kit lens is great. the 72mb/s all intra codec is incredibly powerful. you can get mounts for Nikon and Canon glass so it is easily the best option on the market at the moment. you will need to invest in the fastest SD cards you can buy, I would suggest looking at the new Panasonic cards the micro P2 series
