Do I have a reason to be mad at my roommate?

So my roommate borrowed my watch like a week after I moved in without asking, this was on NYE. Didn't tell me till weeks later when he was showing us pictures from the night and thought I would see my watch. I didn't care because I don't ever wear the watch but still, went into my room and borrowed it without asking.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, he goes on a fucking clean freak out and decides to clean the entire house. Even goes as far as to wipe down the couch, clean ALL of the fixtures, and vacuum each stair. He also decided it was his responsibility to go into my room and vacuum any open carpet without asking to go in my room.

So later that week I told him not to go in my room, I can clean up after myself, and if you're going to borrow anything ask first. I am okay with sharing, just ask.... THAT NIGHT, he is getting ready for his night out and when he leaves I go to the bathroom and see that my cologne is out of place, like across the counter from where I usually put it.. And the bathroom smelt like my cologne... fucker used my shit HOURS after I asked him not to use my stuff without asking. (Mind you he has his own cologne.)

After that I put my cologne in my room, and decided to see if he was using my bathroom stuff, we share a shower. So I got OCD and positioned my soap, shampoo, etc. in a way that would not be natural for someone to place it back like. This morning I hear the shower running and he was showering. I get out of bed go into the bathroom and see that my body wash is out of place. So I go towards the shower and see that my luffa thing is also out of place. I smell it, it smells like my body wash, I touch it, and its fucking wet. The fucking guy thought it would be okay to use not only my body was but also my cleaning utensil for himself.

Needless to say I am pissed and feel like he should not only stop using my shit, but buy me a new luffa thingy. Do I have a reason to be mad and get pissed at this kid...

Spark-notes: Roommate borrows my stuff without asking, started with a watch. When asked not to he proceeds to use my cologne that night. Then uses my shower stuff and never asks about any of it.

Oh I plan on it. I have been very nice in the past, just asking if he uses it, etc. But this time I am going to just tell him he needs to stop and that I already know. No need to ask if it was him.

Ask him to stop, if he doesn't buy one of those shower caddies and buy a lock for your room and just put your shit in your room. Sounds like he's just lazy and doesn't wanna buy his own shit, classic moocher.

yeah i'd be really careful about assuming things....if you happen to be wrong you can really destroy your credibility and come off like a tool. I've asked a roomate to find another place to live because he wrongly assumed several times

I don't think I would get angry over him vacuuming your room if I were you. shit you got a free house clean, enjoy that. but him using your stuff without asking is over the line.

I agree, I want to be aggressive with him because I don't even want to give him the opportunity to lie to me. I know he did it. I have been watching and waiting for this, I even asked my other roommates, he was the only one home this morning, so it had to be him in the shower. He had to have used the loofa because it smelt like my soap, and he had to have used my soap because the body wash bottle was wet and it was wet around it, as well as out of place. I just feel the only way to get to him is to be aggressive and try to act as the "alpha male" because he continues to actually say that he is usually the alpha male in groups. (the kids a fucking tool)

@Stupendious-man, sorry to disappoint, I don't live with a solid 7.

@ehv, I thought about that, but we should be able to be adults and not have to horde my shit in my room. I already had to move my towel into the room because he used it after washing his face and bleached the fucking thing with his face wash shit. Also we have a shower caddy already, my stuff isn't even on it, its on the window sill.

@butterslut, thought about that too. The kid is really annoying with this shit. If he wants to be like me he should try by respecting other peoples shit like I do.

idk, i see where you're coming from with the watch thing. A spritz or two of your cologne, meh, not really a big deal in my opinion, but I get where you're coming from seeing as how you just had the conversation.

As to the shower stuff...maybe he bumped it, checked it out, etc., but didn't use it? Where I'd really draw the line is the lufa...loofa...sp? That's fucking disgusting to be using someone else's loofa. However, it could be that it just got wet from the shower and he didn't actually use it. I can't believe anyone would ever use someone else's....that's just gross.

That is how I felt, why I put my cologne in my room, cause its mine and truthfully I dont want him using it. So I just put it away and didnt wanna fight the battle.

But the loofa I thought the same thing, maybe he bumped it. But I smelt it and it smelled like my body wash and was wet. I can't see how it would have just been bumped if it was soaked and smelt like the soap.

@Dunnah, I thought about doing that with my shampoo, just add nair to it, didn't think about piss for cologne, but maybe.

well I would think your loofa would smell like your soap because you use your loofa with your soap regularly.

do you keep it in the shower stall? because if you do it's probably wet because he just took a shower and everything in the shower gets wet. if you keep the loofa out of the stall like on the vanity or something then you got the fucker red handed.

i get why you're mad about him cleaning your room considering he had fucked with your shit prior to that, but if he vacuumed and didn't mess your room up that's not something to be mad about. if he barely does that massive cleaning shit then i wouldn't take that as anything weird either, you really should do a solid cleaning every once in a while especially when 2+ dudes are living in the place lol

you obviously have a much better idea of what your shower looks like, so it you don't think it could have gotten wet from the shower running, then you're probably right. I know mine hangs off of the shower caddy thing, so it's right under the shower head and gets wet whenever the shower runs. i was basing my thought off of that...

Im not saying he did or didn't do the luffa thing, but I know that body wash makes luffas permanently smell like that given scent, long after you rinse the soap off. so MAYBE he just got it wet in the shower and you are smelling the scent from the body wash from prolonged use...

its in the shower stall... But I just dont think thats the case. It has to get used to get wet. I have even gone as far as to take a shower without using it, and only using bar soap to see if it gets wet. It doesn't... unless you're flailing around like a fucking moron while showering.

Am I taking this all too far, should I even care? It bugs me so much, I just don't know how to handle this and be respectful.

I know the smell would stay on the loofa, that just makes sense. If it was just wet and the body wash wasn't moved I wouldn't think twice. It was the fact that the loofa was moved, (I know this because I hug it and twisted the string, when I saw it it was untwisted.) But it wasn't just wet, the body was was also moved and is positioned in a high spot where it wouldn't normal get touched.

As you can see the loofa is off to the side where it would not get wet. I have a decent shower head on there so it give good water pressure rather than feeling like you're being pissed on. This means it wouldn't drip randomly on the loofa.

is it not clear? where the shampoo, bar soap, and body was are is a window sill, the shower head is obviously spewing the blue lines (water), and the rectangular thing is the shower caddy where my loofa and face wash sit/hang.

you absolutely have the right to be mad. That's nasty, I think it's nice enough you offer to share if he asks but i'd draw the line at the loofa. Does he use your tooth brush too? I mean seriously. I'd say something to him in a more serious tone, maybe he thought you weren't that serious about it. You actually just told him once so that's messed up that he used your chit right after. If he gives you lip, just crack him in the face and get a new roomape.

clothes tshirts shoes anything he wrecked id tell him just keep it dont borrow more

he'd even use my just used towels

earbuds would be used, broken coverd in earwax

When i snapped:

He has some public mental breakdown to get attention, then decides to have the RA come into our triple and talk at like 2am

the RA sees my $250 bong while roommate opened MY closet.

another thing that pissed me off was walking in at 4am everynight after studying

i feel that it could have gotten wet from him taking a shower. While, yes, the water doesn't drip directly on it, but water splashes everywhere in the shower...especially with good water pressure. I mean, the shower head doesn't point towards the glass walls and door of my shower stall, but that doesn't prevent them from being covered in water after i take a shower. plus hot water steams and then condenses, causing other things to get wet without any direct contact with water from the shower head.

i just can't believe a man would use another man's loofa....fucking gross.

Depending on how much longer you have to live with him and whether you like him and want to maintain some kind of friendship, either confront him sternly and tell him your shit is yours and not to touch it anymore or tell him to go fuck himself and not to touch your shit again or there is going to be problems.

You really gotta go up and be like this sounds crazy but Ive been paying close attention to the stuff of mine youve been using and I don't want living here to be uncomfortable so can you just stop using my things. Might be awkward for a bit after but eventually things will smooth out
