Will we lose pipe?

so we have dubs, might get trips, but how else can pipe progress?  I was thinking something like the Danny Davis Peace Pipe with grinds and shit but I think without some huge new progression pipe will die out.

yeah, future spins will start coming into pipe more, but I would like to see something like peace pipe for skiers, taht was so badass.

Well, there for sure is a physical limitation that eventually gets hit.

Like its not going to be the year 2430 and you're freaking out that Bobby Brown the 12th just pulled 18 flips in one hit on the halfpipe that travelled the entire distance top to bottom of one wall.

Depends on what you consider progression I guess. Style will always progress as people experiment with new artistic ways to express themselves on skis. Difficulty will hit a physical limit, people will start getting really hurt, and then they'll just do however many flips/spins that is all the time.

yea i totally agree. OP just made it sound like once we get to a certain point that there is no where else to go. There is always some where else that the sport can be taken.

That's like saying we will lose jumps; I mean we have trips, maybe quads eventually but how much more can we progress?

People will never stop going bigger and getting more technical in pipe. And I'm sure they said something similar about the physical limit 10 years ago, and look what happened... There will be an end somewhere but progression isn't going to slow down anytime soon.

People will keep throwing bigger tricks, but it's not like peoples' bones are getting stronger or their ACLs are getting thicker. Pretty soon, pushing the sport by adding new spins will get too dangerous and the collective ACL of skiing will stage a mutiny and people will just start focusing on style over technical difficulty.

i think its fair to argue that pipe could lose popularity, skiing is a sport unlike others in the way that we have quickly reached human limits for a lot of its aspects, like for skateboarding its limits are still pushed simply on a ledge or on flatground. but in pipe skiing we are flipping and jumping almost as high as humanly possible. thats why we are seeing this movement of ski culture back to simple boxes and rails because skiers are like fuck im not gonna die doing a triple im just gonna do tail presses
