I didn't want to make two separate threads so I'm just combining both into one. The first being, what is the biggest jump you've ever hit? Skiing the Poconos in Pennsylvania, I don't get to experience very many big jumps but Big Boulder put together some burly fucking jumps for their Huck Yourself event last week. They are 45', 75' and 90' to the sweet spot and for someone that doesn't get out west, these looked massive to me. I ended up hitting all 3 yesterday - I was able to backflip the 45 footer, 360 the 75 footer (really sketchy) and I only tried straight airing the 90 footer which I ended up knuckling really fucking hard.
My first thought was Tanner Hall's "MY ANKLES ARE BROKEN" but after lying there for about 60 seconds (no one else on the mountain was hitting these) I skiied it off in considerable pain. I rode down the entire trail without speed checking once to hit that 90 footer I don't know how the fuck it is possible to clear that. The liftie said only 1 snowboarder was hitting it for the Huck Yourself event.
And on to the second part of the post, I fucking hate snowboarder dickheads that get right on your ass as when you are trying to hit a jump. I tried my first Flatspin 540 yesterday and ended up under rotating and faceplanted it. Lying face down I started scurrying myself off to the side of the jump but literally within 3-5 seconds of me landing a snowboarder stomped on my fucking head with his board. Luckily I was wearing a helmet and luckily I was laying face down so I didn't take anyone of it to the face but I gotta see a Doctor now because I am having vision problems. Here is the aftermath of the helmet. Fuck assholes that tailgate you on jumps and don't show a little courtesy and use common sense and make sure the landing is clear.
