The importance of the Media cults

I want to just open up a general discussion here pointing out the importance of being involved in the Producers, Journalist and Photographer cults here on Newschoolers.

Our core strategy with the content creation side of the site is based around the idea that we're going to always use people out of the community. We are encouraging everyone of every level to join the discussion, whether pro or am - and are going to give everyone an equal shot at opportunities.

So if you're interested in one or all of the three types of media, I encourage you to join up and keep the conversation going. People who join our media communities are the ones who will be given opportunities in the future. When you ask yourself how to get ahead in the ski industry... this is it.

I'm also curious to hear what your thoughts are on all of this. Do you have questions? Does it make sense? Do you think this is a stupid fucking idea?

Yeah man, I mean when you see those old bump threads talking about who the up-and-coming athletes are filled with current relevant pros - I can't help but think that we've failed ourselves if we dont' do more of that with the media side of things.

For some reason I was not involved with any if these cults. Thank you for the heads up! I think a place with more directed discussion can be extremely useful and engaging.

Yes! These cults are awesome places and would be even better with LOADS of activity. I'm a fan of having a place specifically dedicated to discussion between those committed to the medium, and it really helps spread knowledge when the focus is on just that one idea.

It would extremely awesome if we could get these cults more active, NS Photographers was going pretty strong for a while with God (lol) and Jamie at
the helm and the contests were sweet, but activity has fallen off recently.

Yeah, winter and school claimed a lot of us to other stuff. I'll get some contests brainstorming and some mass pm's out shortly

Its all about keeping the discussion flowing. I think that we need to do a better job as staff at engaging these communities as well.

I think something that I would really like to see discussed is a deep dive into each segment and how we can really vastly improve the content within them.

There is most certainly gear to be awarded and money to be made by being a part of this stuff. So help us push content in the right direction on NS and do your part to keep the discussions going.
