in my video production class at school we have to have 3 videos to air a week and i prefer using imovie. alot easier and faster. final cut pro just importing the clips you have to start n stop the camera so you make small clips it's gay and takes a long time

I agree, if I'm just clipping and placing video clips I prefer to use iMovie ... I often import in just iMovie too. But if I'm doing titles or any kind of effect I switch it over to final cut express. You can always import iMovies from you camera to final cut ... something I do to speed things along.

I have final cut HD, and i don't knwo how to use it yet....but i will.....yyea imovie is liek the idiots version of video editing, you can still do a lot of things with it if you know how to use it.....

yeah imovie is pretty sweet for a basic program, but im trying to dl fcp4 from limewire, cuz i heard fcp is offfff the hooook

I'm pretty sure iMovie imports at the same resolution as Final Cut Pro.

schoening, to import better in FCP, just capture the whole section of video that you need...beginning to end with no cuts (unless there's a giant section in the middle that is not needed), and then just chop it up once it's in the computer. that makes it much easier (none of that start, stop shit) and better because when you chop up that huge section and take clips to the timeline, it doesn't ruin that original clip, so if later you decide that you want/need a longer shot of the same footage or whatever, you can just chop it again to a different length.

yeah, i'm pretty sure that FCP can import at variable resolutions and frame rates, but iMovie is just a standard of both and not variable. i think that's because FCP, being the higher end program, is capable of adjusting for NTSC or PAL format, film of different kinds, etc. i'm not positive, but i think that's how it is.

The up to date ones (dunno what FCP number they are on right now) cost a butt load of money and yes are much harder to use. I would recommend trying to get ur school to sponsor u or something crazy like that and try to have someone teach u how to use it as well. If ur movie isn't going to be all that serious u may as well just stick to he basic editing program it comes with.

imovie is wack.. its designed for gradmother to make movies of there little grand children.. FCP4 or FCP HD only way to go.. unless u can afford AVID wich is def way better. They amount of real time you can do is what makes this shit rock. also you can create transistions and fool aroudn with more then 1 video and audio track. personily i have had 16 differnt video tracks and 10-20 differnt aduio tracks. you may ask why? well if you wanna have sound effects and music overlapping as well as having the aduio from the video you need it. video tracks you ask? well supose you want to have like 10 differnt things flash really fast from one picture to the next. just drop all the clips on top of each other then just select wich one you want to show threw at that spicific time, instead of cutting and placing each on indivudialy guhhh.. that would totaly suck. anyways FCP rules it...

yeah man, i heard aboud AVID, but.... i heard its incredible hard to learn , my dad went to a new years eve party and met this guy that works for avid, and he said that he would sell it to me for a sutdent special at $300. i havent looked into at all, but is it for macs?? and isnt it now like $2,000????
