I hate itunes please help

Whenever i try to load downloaded music to my ipod touch the tracks just show up with a little clear circle to the left of the track name and it doesn't show up on the ipod when i disconnect. This doesn't happen with my nano so i don't know what it could be. Has this happened to anyone else and how do I fix it?

Happened to me, I looked at the top where it says what it's doing/what's playing, pressed the x to stop it all (mine said it was backing up and preparing to sync) and then tried again and it worked.
