I'm kind of new to film/photography. I was wondering what things ill need to fill up my camera bag, any suggestions appreciated.

there is a shit ton of stuff that you could have in there, how much of it is necessary is down to you.

Get a faster lens. 50mm f1.8 or 28mm f2.8. that kit lens will only get you so far, and won't get you anywhere at night.

Get a tripod - even a cheap 10$ one is better than just a monopod, get a bag that can carry all this shit, and just get out and shoot photos. worry about gear once you know what you like doing and you can be selective.

50mm portraits, closer shots, 28mm is a slightly wide normal (on an aps-c crop sensor)

the f1.8 is good for low light, and some people are beginning to use long lenses on their glidecams, I know downtofilm did in one of his recent edits. Also can be good if you are shooting a feature from further away, or to get a tighter shot. Also, many of us film off the mountain, even though not all of us intended to originally

28mm comes out to like a 47mm on a crop... which is so similar to a 50mm it's downright negligible.

oh, thats right, canons are 1.6. It would be 42 on nikon, which would be slightly wide, but still a good normal imo. some people on here were bitching about how there isn't a lens that is exactly a 50mm equivalent for crop sensors, and I think they might've been off by less than that haha

Technically, the 28 on a crop cam is more "normal" than the 50 on a ff.

Absolutely. a 43mm is what I consider to be the true standard. If anything, it's way more versatile than a 50mm. Only wacky Pentax makes one though, and they don't even have FF digital cameras...
