It's not a true 8 core, in the sense the that not all cores run off the same die. It runs on ARM's big.LITTLE architecture; effectively, it's a quad core Cortex A15 and quad core Cortex A7 running on the same SoC. It's not designed for performance increase, it's designed for power savings. The two chips will never run simultaneously.

because if you're like 99% of the people, your car gps is probably out of date. They also generally take much longer to provide directions, most can't give traffic info, and are much more limited with what they can find.

And a phone can also give walking directions, public transit directions and things like that.

I completely understan that argument but hate it at the same time, i basically need a smart phone with an expensive ass data package for work. I couldn't imagine not being able to check my work email andsuch outside the office.

I love how polarized the two phone arguments (iPhone vs Samsung). They are both sick phones, who cares what u have they both do the same shit. It's all preference.

That being said who the fuck cares if your phone has a 8 core processor? Your phone is so badly going to rape my iPhone when it comes to checking my email/Facebook/web with those sick processes!

The US version apparently won't have the Exynos 5 Octa .... You'll be getting one with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600.

Depends what you consider to be a waste of time I guess.

For me, being able to read news, buy and sell items online, do my banking and take care of E-mail are all things I use my phone for on close to a daily basis. It's nice to be able to do these things during mundane parts of the day, like commuting or waiting for my gf to finish shopping.

It's like having the capabilities of your computer in your pocket.

Does anybody have a good guide of what is possible if you were going to mess with an android os? Cause I'm going to upgrade to a smartphone soon, I still have my lg chocolate 2, but I think it's time, these new phones are so damn cool. Cause obviously there's a few (frist world problem) choices here. I'm learning more about linux in my spare time, sometimes, and I heard ubuntu is doing something phone related soon.

It will prob be good. I rock the Note 2 because I HATE touch screens and even typing on a kindle is hard for me. So I need the huge-ness of the note.

I'm not discrediting the inner working of the phone. The exterior however, has seemed to fall apart with every Samsung phone I've had, and every Samsung phone friends have had. I think the technology going into these phones is amazing and is really pushing the barrier of what will come in the future.

I mean, with all of this technology going into these phones, why can't they seem to make screens that won't break after one drop? Yes, Gorilla glass doesn't scratch easily, but is there another type of screen that can withstand being dropped? Something like plexiglass(sp?).
