College Selection Help

Hi, I searchbarred and couldn't find exactly what i'm looking for, but a lot of very similar threads so sorry if it's been covered.

Anyway, I'm looking for a college with good skiing, and an engineering major (Mech/Civil/Chem). I live in
CO right now so obviously CU is a possibility but I really want to move to the PNW. Western Washington, for example is perfect, other than the lack of an engineering degree.

So does anybody go to a school in the PNW, that has a decent engineering department? Also, is Engineering Tech at UWW at all worth doing?

Welp you could always ditch your want of location and come to Connecticut. UConn's a dope school and it's only getting better.

you could always go to the Univ. of washington. sick school, decently close to skiing (hour and a half average) and im sure they have an engineering program

Yeah, but i'm not too sure I could get in, 4.05 avg gpa there. I'm at 3.8 overall, probably 3.9 after this semester so it would be hard

if 4.05 is the average than isn't a 3.9 right in range? Sure it's the lower end, but definitely close enough to at least apply. You never know what's going to happen.

Boise State has a engineering program and the hill there is decent with a great park
I think osu has a good program too and Hood is kinda close (not really)

uhhh washington only goes to a 4.0... you'd probably get in with a 3.8-3.9 depending on your SAT/ACT scores and extracurricular things

wwu has an engineering program, grads are pretty much farmed by boeing. Industrial design program is dam good too...bsu for engineering is very meh but boise is a sick place

im from CO and looking at schools in the Pacific Northwest too, but I'm looking at film. I'm visiting UBC in vancouver, UW in seattle and possibly Gonzaga, along with a couple other art only schools. Those three are pretty big, my friend is looking at Gonzaga for engineering, might be worth a look. Not sure about skiing distance or whatever, but at least you're close.

There are no good schools in Washington. Just go to CU and save yourself some money.

if you are out of state, a 3.8 will get you in. one of my friends got in (in state) with a 3.5

I live in WA every college is pretty good and wherever u live u are no more than 45 mins away from a mtn. Ive heard wwu is awesome....

There aren't. University of Washington is the best school in the state and it's on the same level as CU. There's no point in going anywhere in Washington when you can get in-state tuition to CU.

I'm biased but Gonzaga is a pretty decent school. It's in Spokane, which is half shitty, half actually awesome. Its Eastern Washington, right next to Idaho. Plus campus is tight, there are good people here, and don't know if you like sports at all, but our basketball is ranked 1st in the nation right now.GO ZAGS! Its a small school, like 5000 undergrad, which is awesome but also sucks if you're trying to avoid anyone. Cool thing is you can show up to a random party and know a solid group of homies who are there though.

Skiing within 45 minutes to Mt Spokane, 1:20 to Schweitzer, and then only a few hours to Red or Whitewater. Plus you can drink at 19 in Canada which is always fun.

and yes, University of Washington is also a good school near skiing. But its huge, like 26,000 I think? All depends on the feel you're looking for. Another thing, if you're out of state, you're gonna pay as much at UW that you would be paying for a private school, such as Gonzaga. But Gonzaga gives seriously good scholarship money if you have decent grades, especially if you're from another state.

College selection is a great part for the student. A survey by experts at the University of California, Los Angeles found that cost is becoming more of a factor in college selection. This shouldn't be too surprising, as federal loan funding is drying up as tuition is increasing, alongside the fact that it should be to start with.
