I dont want to get off subject and into this argument with you, but the drug WAR, private healthcare, and high tuition are not restricting peoples freedom... it depends on what you are referring to as the drug war, but i would tend to think of that as the illegal drug trafficking between gangs and over the mexican border. I agree that marijuana and certain other drugs should be legal here, yes i do think that our freedom is taken away when it comes to that. but why would that make it ok to take away more freedom? as far as private healthcare, that IS a freedom, as public healthcare is something you are FORCED into. high tuition? you are free to pay it, go somewhere cheaper, or not go to college at all.
and its an issue, because what they are focusing on is NOT the issue. again, you are thinking like the general public, with emotion, concealed carry and 25 round mags seem scary and dangerous, but the truth is that they contribute hardly anything to gun violence here.
and I dont know where you're from, but there are some sketchy ass areas in the US, where i live right now is pretty damn safe and i dont see any reason to carry, but when i lived in chicago, you'd see crimes weekly, i had multiple friends mugged and beaten, you heard of quite a few murders in the area i lived. It would most definitely make sense to carry there.. but hey, guess what? you basically cant, Chicago has some of if not the most strict gun laws in the country, and guess what else? they have THE most gun related crime in the country.. sure looks like a great model for more gun control eh?
this isnt an issue of if you NEED a gun anyways, that does not matter at all. its a right we have and they are attempting to take it away in forms that will not have an effect on gun violence.
oh and the REAL problem? gang violence. when gangs and career criminals account for 80% of our gun crime, and the number of gang members and that rate are climbing, you've got a problem. yet you dont ever hear about it. its the high cap magazines which at most you could say account for a small fraction of a percent that is all over the media. gangs are where most of the illegal gun trade takes place, and we have a hugely increasing amount of mexican gangs forming in southern california and other parts of the south that are beginning to become a huge problem. i think its absolutely ridiculous that we can focus on something that we cant even prove contributes to any death, while we hardly acknowledge the cause of 80% of the problem. just shows how blind and brainwashed the general public is.
