So today i got my first dslr (t3i) and i just have the 18-55mm kit lens with it. So I decided to do some light painting with my friend. Here are some of the picture we took. Idk I just was wondering if there were different ways or better ways i could go about doing this because all i did was set the shutter to 15 and 30 seconds and we got a flash light with some colored saran wrap and just did what ever.
those look like a pretty decent start to me. my first light painting picture was like half of a smile face.
there is a lot you can do with it though. you can add a "second curtain" flash to freeze the image after the light has been captured so you get a subject with the light painting around them all composed in one shot
its supposed to light because you take the end of the 9v battery where you would connect it and strike the wool but I havent been able to do that so i just light it up. Try and get a whisk if you can and then tie some chain to that. Stuff the wool in the whisk, light it and spin it around. I would try and wear black so you dont get picked up by the camera and also a hat so you dont get the wool in your hair.
