The necessity of gnarliness?

Do terrain parks really need a gnarly factor? I was just watching the new episode of the weak and I noticed that there were closeouts and even a rail with little knobs on the top that you have to hop over or you will probably eat shit. When do you draw the line between making funner/more challenging features and just making shit that is designed to fuck people up? Just kind of irks me when a terrain park sets up something like that when they could put something funner and less dangerous up that more than three people will hit.

The little nobs are to stop people from hitting rails you can hit 4" wide boxes all day if you want.

Knobs are fucking stupid. Most other things are awesome. I don't look at it as gnarly factor so much as more opportunity for creativity. You can do more with a closeout than with a flat rail, plus it adds an extra challenge.

My problem is too much creativity. We don't need close outs and bonks at the end of EVERY rail.
