Best Mountain in the East

What is the best mountain in the east, and why? I think Bretton Woods is pretty good all around. Park is decent but the rest of the mountain is great.

hmm. my favoirte is Saddleback, or Sugarbush. Sugarbush has the best park.

i ski cranmore, attitash, and wildcat, all different terrain. attitash has better jumps, cranny has a better rail game, and wildcat has the best pow/terrain of the three, but thats just where i live

I ski at Cranmore, who are you/what do you wear?

Also I'd say Loon, Saddleback, or Waterville Valley. Loon and Saddleback are a bit more diverse terrain wise, and Saddleback nad Waterville have extremely easily accessible and lap-able parks, located right outside of the base lodge.

Was not, got duped out of hitching a ride to watch the rail jam and ride. But I was there a little while ago when they were re-building The Reel on a most blue bird of days, and it looked prime/sick. Upset I haven't made it up since.

Big Boulder is really pretty sick from what I've seen, but no offense, you must not have been to Killy, Okemo, Mt. Snow, Waterville Valley, Loon, Sugarbush, or Sugarloaf if you think Boulder has the best parks out east.

respect the Jah, for real though what he said, i'd said in my opinion Jay takes it, their parks aren't carinthia but they really aren't bad. but Stowe has sick side/backcountry too, killington rules, mad river has some nice terrain but you're not getting a park. the east really has some good skiing

Bretton Woods is most definintly not even top 10 in the east! I hate when people are like oh yeah (home MT) is the best MT around. just cause you ski there doesn't make it the best.

I personally fucking love Magic.  I enjoy myself at a lot of other places, but Magic is just so fucking balls to the wall, so many friends ski there and the terrain is so bangin' that I have easily 5x as much fun there as anywhere else.  That and it's cheap, close, and nobody gives you shit for anything except skiing the very top of redline, which only fucking idiots do anyways. 

There's no park, no village, no stores or shops, limited grooming and I like it that way.  Keep it raw as fuck.

Bush for park and mad river for super fun all mountain with lots of air and a few gnarly woods runs. They're only 5 minutes away from each other so if you get two passes you can ski the best park in the east in the morning, then go ski some of the best trees and trails in the east for the rest of the day

Cannon is the most awesome mountain.

It's steep so you can charge hard essentially anywhere if you're into that, has a ton of variety in the woods with cut-thru's all over. Combine with that with it's sporadic terrain and you've got a ton of awesome natural jumps/jibs everywhere! Not to mention arguably the best scenery on the East Coast. Mittersill is great too but with the recent chairlift the quality has kind of lessened..

People say it's too icy but that is typical of a weekend visitor who doesn't get to ride the mountain midweek when new snow makes for consistent good skiing. Don't get me wrong it does get pretty icy compared to other mountains but I think they do well considering they're at the end of a major wind tunnel (north end of Franconia Notch) and considering you're bound to have more snow pushed off the trail when you're on an all around steeper hill and you have people sliding to stops in essentially all the same spots on certain main trails.

To be honest I have a hard time choosing a "Best" mountain.

Sunday River, Saddleback, Sugaloaf, Mad River Glen, Stowe, Jay, Cannon, Killington, and Sugarbush are all worth it. Any of them could be better then the other depending on the time of year really.

you just listed vermont mountains.. but I have to agree, the person who said sunapee is on bath salts.

outside of the vermont mountains listed above I'd add sugarloaf and sunday river.

someone with common sense in this thread thank you.  People are naming small hills in NH and places in PA the best hills on the east....are you kidding me?

MRG has some or the gnarliest terrain in the east, I've skied chest deep on Mansfield at Stowe, killingtons ok-  whats impressed when I've been.  I've been scared on trails in the woods at sugarbush they were to tight, technical...

mount snows sucks to whoever said it was the best too.
