Heading to Jackson Hole

I'm leaving Friday to go to Jackson Hole WY.  Looks to be some nice weather, a little on the warmer side but hey they've been getting tons of snow and I can't complain.  I had a few questions for NSers that are locals or used to the area as it is my first time.

Not tomorrow, but next Friday I will still be in J Hole all day and no pass so a couple friends and I were looking to rent some snowmobiles and take those out for a day.  Can anyone suggest any good/cheaper places to do this at?

Smoke shacks, I know J Hole has to be full or them or for flower info itself if you could PM I'd greatly appreciate it.

We are staying in the Cowboy Cabins but not actually the cabins the rooms, anyone know how those are? I mean I don't really give a fuck but I'm just curious.

Last question, if we end up not going snowmobiling on Friday then we were thinking about going to Grang Targhee, will that be worth it? I think I we can get a lift ticket for $50.

Just any info or whatever is appreciated, thanks.

Do you mean only sledding, or sledding into backcountry and skiing?

We're open to both, but I'm thinking just taking the sleds out and leaving the skis back. But it just depends on price really.

Yeah they will probably be very high. But cool thanks, I think that would be sick if we could take some sleds out and our skis but I think taking just our sleds out and romping around would be fun as hell too.

Way too many people are here this week for spring break already. Today, a Thursday, rivaled worst crowds of the season. And more people are headed next week. You should go to Big Sky instead. But for sleds, LIESURE SPORTS is your best bet.

i was at Jackson Hole early January and for never skiing anything out west before (Im from the East Coast) i had the sickest time shredding stuff off of Sublette. Also stuff off the headwall was real sick like the Crags area. I also had a rad time in the Hobacks. Have fun homie and be careful of the snow.

It's been fairly slow this week, today was the busiest day because it actually snowed a little bit.

Head to Togwotee for snowmobiling. I hope you guys have backcountry experience and equipment ready. It's been sketchy out there the past few days. And a lot of places won't rent you Beacons and avy packs without a guide.

The village has been super fun lately, I've been skiing stash park laps and hiking almost everyday. I work almost everyday so if you need anything pm me. I can also hook it up with demo pow skis for beer/pizza

Sounds good man, yeah I've heard its been sketchy cause of amount of snow and warmer weather. But I'll look into Togwotee thanks. And haha cool I'll see about those pow skis. Got like Fatypus or ON3P??

Any sort of snowmobile tour/rental will be way more expensive than a lift ticket. If you're looking for flowers, go to the bar and talk to people; shouldn't be too difficult.

Yah I planned on it being more expensive, but if I could rent sleds for like $120 then I'd think about it, and I planned on doing that too. Before I went to CB over Xmas break I made a thread too and I got the hook up before I even got out there so I was just trying to do the same. Ya feel me?

IMO snow king is not worth it. I'm guessing your coming to the tetons to ski big mountains, and snow king is hardly a hill. It is steep tho, and you could probably green pass it.

There's a couple good huts on the hill but explaining where they are is pretty much impossible.

Conditions have been decent... Yesterdays storm brought in a pretty stable snowpack, but rising temps have caused it to start to slab. The official level is moderate, with a the primary issue being soft slabs up to two feet. I wouldn't recommend going into the backcountry unless you are experienced and know where your going/have someone to show you around. Its doubtfully you'll pop off anything big enough to bury you but you might get swept off a massive cliff or into some trees.

i too am an east coaster who went out west to jackson for the first time this january, and i too found great success off the sublett quad as well as in the hobacks (bumps for miles). and hiking the headwall is so sick if its not too tracked out, i think we hiked it four times on our last day there haha.

I would highly recommend going to Targhee. Went there for the first time last year and it was sick. The terrain is a lot different than Jackson, much more mellow and open. The snow makes up for it though. I went two days after a storm when Jackson was completely tracked out and was able to ski foot deep powder right under the lift. No lines, great views, overall a nice change of pace for an extra day of skiing.

just ask people on the mountain if they know where "the green runs are" haha. or ask in the bar. basically, ask anyone that looks like they would smoke. it shouldn't take too long to find something.

Today was fucking awesome, it was a little icy in spots but if you find the right trails the pow is nice. And riding that Tram was an experience for sure. JHole no doubt has some of the gnarliest terrain in North America. Not to mention I rode with BroBomb and a guy from powder magazine all day!

Rode with Ryan Dunfee (BroBomb.com) and Anthony Smith (Powder Mag/Bike Mag Photo Editor) it was for sure a cool opportunity.  Met a couple people from TGR too, these things overall made the trip a way bettter experience. Can't wait to head back to J Hole next season.

Yeah dude before this trip, I went to CO and it was like 20/22 tops.  Then this one was just fucking miserable (30 hours).  The way there was ten times worse than the way home, everyone is excited and anxious. We all get hammered then pass out then realize we still have 12 hours to go haha but the ride was deff worth it cause the trip was amazing and I got to experience a lot and met a ton of people.  BroBomb, Pow Mag, TGR, EchoTours, so it was for sure a good exposure trip too

Yeah something close like that, but there was actually a lot of bare spots and Corbets was closed for a day. But overall it was insane.
