Anybody who is not an ass. Look at it like this, if we give a 1% tax hike to the high upper class (like 750k+ a year), what do they lose?
maybe the chance to buy their third jet ski, or a second vacation, maybe. But if we give a 1% tax hike to the lower class, they lose stuff that's a little bit more important, because they're spending 80% of their income on things necessary to survive (food, shelter ect.), and we get less revenue.
People (cough cough republicans) argue that we shouldn't raise taxes at all. Well at this moment, we are currently running over 17 trillion dollars in debt, and have no signs of stopping this. Unless the right side of the aisle can give proper spending cuts without crippling our nation, we need to raise taxes.
Also, I've never understood how people think trickle down actually works. It plain doesnt.
