Nope, but the life of some guy fighting for his home(possibly also under orders) is worth no less than some guy who is following orders from a lying, murdering president. Civilians who didnt leave their homes because they had nowhere else to go are being killed by the hundreds and these are the real casualties.

OK guys here's the plan, route all our units to a single fortified city in an all out war using armored vehicles and air strikes against guerilla fighters. THAT WON'T WORK. WE'VE PLAYED THIS GAME BEFORE IN VIETNAM. Ontop of that, the lack of forces in other areas has lead to a drastic increase in terrorist attacks on police and US friendly institutions. This is the worst thing ever. I don't know how Bush is going to get us out of this without alienating the whole muslim world (we are pretty close at doing that) and loosing our remaining allies.

Graves, your source there didn't really do much of a job citing his own sources... but where those figures, specifically, come from is rather disturbing to me. They're originally from a completely unsupported post on another blog, which immediately followed said statistics with the following: ''Michael Moore, the intellectual leader of the Democratic Party, may believe that the terrorists are patriots and freedom fighters, but the Iraqi people clearly do not agree.'' I'm not exactly inclined to take that source at face value, and it's certainly not a good counterbalance for the BBC. One of Mr. Chrenkoff's readers said the following (and while I don't necessarily agree, a differing perspective is a good thing): ''The depths of your ignorance of underlying problems and willingness to parrot the 'progress' conjured by reconstruction agencies and others whose continued livelihood depends on a stream of 'good news' is remarkable. It's certainly the case that there are things which are not reported by the mainstream or global media, but that doesn't necessarily give them anything remotely close to the correct perspective on this issues. Just the opposite; such 'private news sources' are assuredly the greatest cesspools of bias you're likely to find. Outside of this site, anyways.

actualy if you had read the articles you would have learned that:

'From my window, I can also make out that the minarets of several mosques have been toppled.'

Something tells me Iraqi nationals didn't topple the mosques. Something else the media doesn't tell you: Most of these newly trained Iraqi fighters aren't Arabs Iraqis, they are predominantly Kurdish Iraqis from the northern part of the country. In case you didn't know, the Arabs and the Kurds don't get along.

Also, in regards to 'minimizing colateral damage' doesn't sound like they are doing a very good job of it. The entire cities infrastructure is shot, no power, water, food. Massive damage to buildings, including mosques and other sensitive places. The reporter is talking seeing the corpses of women and childeren in the streets.

The reporter described the battle:

'A US armoured vehicle has been parked on the street outside my house in the centre of the city.

From my window, I can see US soldiers moving around on foot near it.

They tried to go from house to house but they kept coming under fire.

Now they are firing back at the houses, at anything that moves. It is war on the streets.

The American troops look like they have given up trying to go into buildings for now and are just trying to control the main roads.

I am sitting here on my own, watching tragedy engulf my city.

A medical dispensary in the city centre was bombed earlier.

I don't know what has happened to the doctors and patients who were there.

It was last place you could get medical attention because the big hospital on the outskirts of Falluja was captured by the Americans on Monday.

A lot of the mosques have also been bombed.

For the first time in Falluja, a city of 1,200 mosques, I did not hear a single call to prayer this morning.

I broke my Ramadan fast yesterday with the last of our food - two potatoes and two tomatoes.

The tomatoes were rotten because we have no electricity to run the fridge.

My neighbours - a woman and her children - came to see me yesterday. They asked me to tell the world what is happening here.

I look at the devastation around me and ask - why?'


Now that 'the insurgent stronghold' is being delt with, shit is going down all over the rest of Iraq, as bad or worse than it was in Falluja. Car bombs everywhere. Reports say police in the city of Mosul are non existant, and that insurgents roam the streets freely with automatic wepons and RPG's.
