did you get injured to ride with a kneebrace?
it's not a good thing to ride with a kneebarce cause the muscles of your knee are not working as they should and you'll get your knee weaker

this is very true. Its the same idea as people in power chairs that used to be able to walk, but now their legs have become so weak they cannot support them anymore. Braces are good post injury/rehab, but not too long after, unless your knee really needs it. Squats on squats on squats.

saturday was my first time skiing in 2 months and it felt like my legs were going to explode. yesterday i went skiing and felt fantastic despite my legs feeling crampy and weak and coming off a bad knee when i got there. what did i do? i skied as forward as possible. try it.

if you havent had a knee injury you probly shouldnt have to ski with a knee brace...

Its absolutely bullshit when people say that knee braces compensate for muscle usage, because they dont. They support natural movement and prevent twisting of the knee. Sure people get used to the brace and it adds a safety factor that once someone stops using one, they can easier hurt their knee, but a knee brace does not act as a muscle making someone weaker.

I think what you're trying to say is that a good brace only becomes active when an injury situation occurs. Otherwise, your leg should move freely within the brace without any sort of "muscle-weakening" taking place...

I skied with a brace for as little as I could after I got hurt in motocross. I hated skiing with a brace though.

so what do you think prevents twisting of weightlifters knees or big mountain skiers knees? I have a history of back problems and only wear my brace when i know i haven't exercised in awhile to allow my core to strengthen gradually without injury.

I ski with two full carbon knee braces. In 2009 I completely blew out my right ACL and tore the Meniscus. I had to have reconstructive ACL surgery and since then I have wore my brace on the right knee. Fast forward to 2011, I had some discomfort in my left knee, so I went to the dr and I had 4 tears in my meniscus and the tear in my ACL. They went in to clean up the meniscus and left the ACL alone but since then I have wore a brace on the left knee also. I only wear them for skiing, I downhill mountain bike with out them, I golf with out them so I basically do everything else but skiing & wakeboarding without my braces.
I have never noticed my knee being weaker from the brace. The brace is there to stop the knee from twisting the wrong way or hyper extending. If the dr says to wear them then don't be a dip shit and wear them.

Yes exactly, and what would do that if a person didn't have a brace? That is getting weaker

The more park you ride, and the bigger the features you are hitting I would wear a brace. My season is currently over due to straining my knee falling in a pipe. Now would the brace have helped...who knows but im regretting not wearing it haha
