Predictions on freeskiing in 2020

What do you think freesking wil be like in 7 years? Honestly I think it will be tons of 9 year olds drapped in Saga and taking over NewSchoolers. Prepare yourselves.

dome skiing only because of global warming. Lodges at ski resorts will become shelters as major urban areas near sea level become below sea level.

Outlook bleak at best.

The skiing fad will go full circle and snowboarding will be crazy popular again like it was a few years ago. That or some kind of new snow device will be invented what will take over.

As temperature rises summer skiing will diminish, eastern resorts will lye heavly on snowmaking. Freeskiers will be pushing the quincecork (5) quades will be stock in big air. Triples in slopestyle. Jumps will be muchhh larger 150+ . But as jumps grow so do risk I think it will be common to see a skier die on a monthly basis . Lifts will progress to the next level as well.

Let the future newschoolers who have been linked to this thread by this man's bold /claim know that I have just executed a banana enema. But this will be common practice amongst the 2020 ns'ers and it wont matter. Clothing will be baggy, but only after the transfer to tight has reached full completion. We've seen this countless times throughout history; kids will wanna be different and the pendulum shall sway continuously. Cow

I think we have already seen the decrease in passion for skiing and an increase in the passion for being like someone else and what they think is cool. I think back to the atmosphere on this site and peoples attitudes and passions when I joined in 2005 to what it is today and you already see a huge change. Really we have moved away from the definition of "free" skiing in a true sense today. So what freeskiing will be like in 2020 all depends on what your definition of freeskiing will be in 2020. If your using todays then i will give a one word answer ariels.

Jumps will completely disaperear and only rails will be left. So instead of big air it would be big rail that would be 450 feet long. Filming will be number one we'll find a way to make it snow year round. Tom walisch and Henrik harlaut will be like Jesus and god and be the profits in a new religion that will be created in two years that dictates freeskiing a law. Weed will be legal so being high while skiing will be a given all the time. Skis will be literally indestructible. Shaun white will will gold in ski pipe cause he thinks it will be necessary but all real skiers will make a cult and kill him in 2023. This will turn skiers a snowboarders into the new bloods and crips.

I think it'll be a lot like gymnastics in that the scoring will become extremely technical as everyone learns to do the same tricks, and the age of X games/Olympic medalists will average at about 16-17. There are only so many tricks, the competition scene is already extremely technical compared to even 5 years ago.

I'm kind of confused, isn't imitation human nature? Don't we do what our idols do because we respect them and aspire to be like them someday? I get that there's a lack of creativity in that but I think we all do it to an extent.

look at our sport 7-10 years ago. Where the athletes trying to imitate someone else or do your own thing? I feel that kids today are doing things because they think it makes them cool not because thats is what direction they think they should go. They are more concerned with what people think than anything else, they have lost that free aspect of doing things for yourself not for what others think.

At some point it will become standardized and everyone will be throwing trips and occasionally quads, so then skiing glades and backcountry will come back into style and take the spotlight.

We will have lost most pro skiers by then to the future due to over rotation and the only way to win a comp is spin as much as possible without disappearing into the future in order to finish your run/ collect your medal.

The same thing that happened to skateboarding. It used to be fairly underground, less known, only doing it because you love it. Now skateboarding is on espn, Gatorade and Mountain Dew endorses athletes, and style is harder to come by. Basically the bobby browns will take over, and the competition scene will be more widely known.

This has already begun to happen, the difference is that the filming scene in freeskiing rivals the competition scene much more than it does in skateboarding. As long as filming remains an integral part of the sport, the "Bobby Brown's" will not take over.
