Car got louder?

So i was driving my car up this big hill today and it all of a sudden got way louder and started vibrating a little bit, sounded kind of like the car was jumping to a lower gear to maintain speed. I'm assuming it's my exhaust maybe but I know nothing about cars. it was also coming from directly below me or maybe just behind me a little. any guesses on what it is and how much its going to cost and where to take it etc? thanks

So I took it in and they lifted it up and it was blatantly obvious. The exhaust pipe was rusted and split where it connected to another pipe about half way back under the car. They said they couldn't weld it back together since it was so rusted out then quoted me at 325$ for the new section of pipe and the gaskets. I don't even need a new muffler just that middle section of exhaust pipe. From what I heard on here I was expecting it to be a little less. Does that sound right? I just took it in to my local garage. should I try a muffler specific shop? It almost looked like I could just line the pipes back up and throw a bunch of JB weld on it to hold it in place to last for a while. Is that an option or sketch? thanks again for the help

I'm prety sure it's just the pipe and the two gaskets on either side. He said it would only be an hour of labor so I'm confused how it would cost over 300. But thanks I'll try somewhere else
