Underage drinking on survallience cameras

To start off, I live in Washington State.
Basically this girl had about 10 people over to her house when her parents went out of town. Her dad is a ex cop or detective and had a few survallience cameras at the house. 2 of which are inside. She tilted up the main camera which was where people were drinking so instead it looked into the kitchen. Parents come home and watch the footage and see a few of my buddies in the kitchen with beers. We receive a text from her saying that her dad is going to talk to the prosecuting attorney and were all going to get in trouble with minor in consumptions. She of course ratted out everyone's names to her dad to try and cover her ass from getting in trouble. Just wondering if anyone had this experience and can comment or knows the law better than I do? (Cause I don't know where this falls under)

I'm pretty sure he'd be throwing himself under the bus, as it's his house meaning he's responsible for what goes on in it, even when he isn't there

That's exactly what I was thinking. He makes beer and had a keg in the house that she was offered another guy there and he took some haha. And yeah I figured if cops didn't bust us than its irrelevant.

Yeah super creepy.... I understand outside but inside... Really? And the girl is being a total bitch at this point. Saying how were all screwed and getting in trouble. When she's walking through her house falling over the whole night.

i broke into a house, and caused 4g's worth of damage.

got in deeeep motherfuckin trouble, the other people theatened us with MIPs and cops, yet there was no proof certain ppl were there.....and the ppl ended up just making me go into my savings lose all my money....

so yah


they're bluffing deny until you die with your rents, with that guy too... don' t talk to that guy
tell your parents, hey i was at a party and people may call you, don't answer

i dont know why people are saying the dude is responsible for what goes on in his house when he is gone but that is not true, i knew a bunch of kids in high school that got the cops called on them for having parties while their parents were gone and their parents were in no trouble with the law whatsoever, still this dude is full of shit

it's called social host liability and there's also negligent supervision of a minor. Or in some states, keeper of a disorderly house, though that usually only applies to huge parties.

Yeah already told my parents. Mom laughed. Neither of us are losing any sleep over this. But wanted to double check. Cause according to her were all in "deep shit" and she said I should plan on "losing my license" haha

yea she's full of shit. It's pretty hard to lose your license due to something that involved no driving. Well...actually it's not, but the odds that it actually happens are slim to none. Especially in your case

If an officer comes to talk to you say that the alch was supplied at the party and made easily available (out back or somewhere without cameras). Take that dad down with ya. Make sure all your friends that are also "getting busted" are in on the story with solid details. So if it does go to shit, which it shouldnt, and you are getting a ticket or something, you fuck him back

Tell the cops he gave you all the booze, then he would be really screwed. If this guy really reports it he has more coming to him than he even knows. If he is really an ex-cop, he should know this. Even if he does, then he is dumber than all the donuts he ate during his tenure.

Just deny it. A video with you holding what appears to be a beer can is far from sufficient evidence to convict you. The only way you could possibly get in trouble for this is if you admit it. I highly doubt the DA will even bother to pursue charges against with such shaky evidence. That being said, apologize to the dad anyway because if he does find an overzealous prosecutor to file charges it will cost a lot of money for you to get an attorney.

Hahaha that would be so funny. Thankfully we don't go to the same school. And yeah as soon as we got that message my buddies and I called and were like seriously let us come and talk to your dad. And you could hear him in the background yell NO when she asked. We're all 19 as well.

no but really this guy is a clown. I know you can lose your license for underage possession of alcohol because it happened to me, but I wouldn't count on it if you didn't get caught in the act.

my friend's party got busted while his parents were in nyc and they didn't get in any trouble but some kids got underages so maybe not 100% wrong. might vary by state

well it depends most times police wont get parents in trouble for not being home, but just because they don't doesn't mean they couldn't . you can also get tickets for j-walking most cops though don't bother.

If they ask you if you were there, if you were drinking, just don't say anything... Only when they have the video in their custody and they ask you is this you in the video, then I would start answering questions. Till then play the fifth.

Seriously the best thing you can do here is deny it. Don't go out of your way trying to get an ex cop in trouble, it will just make the situation worse and even more messy. YOu really don't want to piss off an ex cop.

Even though he can't get you in any trouble, if he tries to, just deny everything and it will all go away and you all can carry on with your lives. It's the easiest and simplest solution.

Well she tilted the camera up in the room where everyone was! So all you could see was the ceiling, but then for some reason she tilted back down a little later and that's when it was facing the kitchen.... She really isn't smart at all. But she thought she could get away with it. We're hoping not to try to get her dad in trouble. Despite how he's handling this. But if he tries to pursue somehow... Who knows.

I mean couldn't you just say there was water in those brews and you had trouble finding cups? I mean it isn't believable but they can't prove shit unless they run a whole crime lab investigation which they won't do. I am sure her dad is bluffing because he would probably get into trouble also. I doubt anything will happen but don't admit to or say anything not even "oh I only had one beer." my friend did that and got an mip and just about arrested. If they do try and charge you which I highly doubt will happen dont say anything get a lawyer and you should be good. Her dad seems like Jack from meet the fockers I would not like to meet him.

Had a similar thing happen to me last summer. A a friend mine threw a small party (like 15-20 people) at her house while her parents were out of town. So we're all just chilling in her basement drinking beer and smoking. About an hour after we show up, my other friend notices a camera hidden behind a flower vase. He picks it up and it has a super long wire which leads into a closet. We look in the closet and her dad had set up a full on surveillance system around the house. He had at least ten cameras that were hidden throughout the house.
