Found some LOOK Pivots in my basement.. what year?!

LOOK what I found in my basement on some of my mom's old skis..
look pivots.
can anybody tell me what year these are?
if they would be good for freestyle nowadays?
also, could i buy wider brakes and put them on these bindings because they are at like 70mm right now lol

those dont look like pivots...looks more like the px14 or something

they look more like a very early px series. the pivots have a pivoting heel piece, and those don't look like they have it. plus they are definitely a lot older, so there is almost no chance that you could find replacement brakes that are wider, especially because when those were made skis were never over like 90 underfoot. plus with how old they are, there is a very high chance that they are indemnified, and shops wont be allowed to mount or adjust them.

sorry dude, you probably wont have any luck with these bindings. they look too old to be worth mounting

They are most definitely Pivots.... not the PX series. They are from the early 2000's era... hard to say from the photos but more than likely somewhere around 2002-2005.


As previously mentioned, they are indemnified and brakes would be near impossible to find. However, if they function correctly, they were a super solid binding back in the day. I would rock em if they checked out okay. But that's just me.

let me rephrase what i said earlier. i knew they are pivots, but they appear to lack the roating heel piece, which is what the pivots now are known for.
regardless, it will be impossible to get brakes for them, and very hard to find somebody that will mount them.

i had a pair of those sitting around a year ago, and i still chose to buy new bindings because i felt like i would be able to trust the newer ones more

you're right and wrong, they are the old "p" series of look (what the px series replaced). The DO have a rotating heel piece although it's different from the fks and p.18 in that it doesn't rotate all the way around, just 50-70 degrees or so each way (estimate). I still have two pairs of the 14 din ones that i use for park and urban skis and they're totally safe and trustworthy (i like them better than px series bindings). I pretty sure that almost all shops would still mount them too as they were only discontinued 6 or 7 years ago.

im not a huge fan of that toe piece though which is why i'd only use em on park/urban skis.

i'm not entirely sure on binding that were discontinued a while ago. i want saying they were px, i was just saying they look more like a px than the current pivots because of the heel plate

cant tell from the pics but whats the din? if they're a 14 din pm me, id be interested in em if you cant use em.

like previously mentioned those are not indemnified and brakes arent available, i work in a shop and mount my own stuff so they have a bit of value to me.

They are look p12 or p14. Its like a mix between the px and the pivot heel. Its got some elasticity, and you can rotate the heel a little bit but not fully like the FKS or the Look pivots. If its the 14s its a pretty good binding, still not that much metal in neither toe nor heel but its fairly durable. there is a possibility that you can bend those brakes to like a 85-90mm brake but im not entirely sure when it comes to that, could be too much plastic around it so its not so easy to heat the metal up .

thats an old p-series binding, i remember riding my first twintips (salomon teneighty) with these bindings :D

i however have no idea what year they're from or if they're a good/bad binding ....

pretty sure these are not pivots. My sisters husband has some old rossignol bindings that appear to be the exact same as these but are yellow and black. they only pivot a little bit not the whole way around like the actual pivots.

they are pivots, not the fks style tho, if you look up a few posts jca explains that they don't pivot all the way like fks or the pivots you are thinking of with the turntable heel. They pivot like 50-80 degrees and Im pretty sure only under force so only when your ejecting from the binding. I used to see them on lots of my friends skis when I raced back in the early 2000's. They are a solid binding and they are for sure from the P series NOT the PX which came later and replaced these.

Ive skiied on these for over a decade. They are pivots. I always called these pivots and the others turntables. These bindings were everywhere in the early-mid 2000s.

They even say pivot on them.

to clarify, I have two coaches on my freestyle team and see another two coaches from Watervilles team rocking these bindings on mogul skis and one pair is on some of last years elan puzzles. They do pivot a little and are good bindings, so they are NOT PX series
