thats how newschoolers works: its a popularity contest. makes sense given that the majority of the users are impressionable teenagers who only seek to be accepted and to be hip with trends.
there are a lot of funny little things like this on here. for example, im convinced that the content of an OP is not all that matters, what matters is:
- if it is made by a distinguished member / well known and liked member the thread has a much higher probability of success
- if its a lesser known member, the reaction of the thread can be influenced greatly by the first couple posts in the thread. if the first couple posters like it then everyone will, and vice versa. its because the majority of people have to do what everyone else does.
ive actually wanted to make a blog or w.e theyre called about this, but it sounds like a lot of work.
