Skateboards banned in school

So I am writing a proposal for my English class on lifting the ban on skateboards at my school. I'm starting by gaining a feel for how many schools have banned skateboards completely. At my school, students can be suspended for even bringing a skateboard onto school property, yet there is no such rule in place for bicycles or scooters. What rules, if any, does your school have?

You could take skateboards in my school if they were strapped to your backpack. You could ride them around the canpus outside as mich as you want.

the funny thing is that my school is pretty cool with longboards, but is completely against actually skateboards. they feel that longboarders are just using the board for transportation, and that skateboarders just grind rails and such (aka destroy public property). i feel bad for the skateboarders when they get in trouble for just riding around and the longboarder blow past them and never get spoken to.

you could have them at my school as long as you were responsible with it, and they preferred that you keep it in your locker.

schools like that are just fucking retarded.......I was tutoring at a elementary school awhile back, and I would get there by longboarding.  One day while I'm walking through the school's halls to my student's class the principal pulls me aside and tells me I can't bring the long board into the school anymore......Ok.....Next day I found out I was "fired" from tutoring at the elementary school.  Feels for the kids that had to go to school their.....such a place that won't even let one of their FREE tutors bring in a piece of wood with 4 wheels on it to class, should not be any type of learning establishment.

that's a pretty stupid rule.

in 10th grade I found a skateboard in a garbage can at my school but there was nothing wrong with it besides extremely loose trucks so I kept it in my locker all year and rode it around the change room after running when nobody was really there.

They're pretty common at our school, but any type of trick being attempted you might get talked to. Longboards are a pretty big thing, because it's also a pretty big boarding student population and they use them to get to the grocery store and the gas station and what not. I think there's a speed limit of like 10 miles per hour though, which is kind of weird.

This is fucked...never thought a school could ban skateboards on the property...i understand not using them on the property...but not allowing them at all is just fucked.

My school prohibits skateboards on campus which doesn't make any sense because they allow bikes. Bikers go really fucking fast and get scary close to people as they pass. I'd much rather have skateboards legal, and bikes banned.

Might be because not every elderly person here in Sweden has a stick up their ass, but here it's the other way around. We even have a mini-skatepark on our schoolyard. But if you ride 'em inside they confiscate them and you can get them by the end of the day.

This shit is so stupid. My school actually allowed or was very lenient when kids wanted to skate out in the parking lots or do the 4 block of stairs that was pretty big, now I am not sure if the 4 block was allowed but kids still did them; just no skating in the school. middle school you would get your board taken if you stepped foot on it anywhere on the property.

Explain that skating is a good healthy, and green source of traspotation, akin to a scooter or bicycle and the school should be encouraging kids to be active instead of taking away the right to bring a board to school. I used to go to the skate park after school only because I brought my board. If I wasn't able to bring my board it wasn't really worth it to me to go to the park later after getting home.

Maybe if skateboarders/longboarders learned to slide/foot break properly this wouldn't be an issue. I know when I'm skating that I can stop in a similar distance to a bike through a good foot break or standie.

The fact is that most people on a board have no clue as to what they are doing = accidents/collisions = skateboards banned from campuses (also the property damage card)

This rule is the worst. I'm pretty sure last year you wouldnt even get your board back if you got it confiscated. Not sure now since Booth left though.

Who is your teacher? Because some of them could actually be willing to help you get this to the admins.

I once broke one of the windows at my old school stalling on a window ledge. It was a pretty dumb thing to do but kinda funny. They still let kids skateboard around the property, but not inside.

I get why places wouldn't allow them during school hours (same with bikes) but I don't understand why some school freak out about kids who use them to get to and from school. Its not like they're skating down the hallways or hurting themselves during lunch break.

So tue man, everyone and I am talking everyone I met over the age of 15 smoked. Hell kids would chief in the road and bomb down so keyed. The police in my town thought we were a bunch or drug abusers and were always out for us. I got multiple rides home in the back of a police car just for skating in the road it was so stupid. I finally stopped recreationally skating I got pulled over and they tried to give me a fucking misdeminor for using another vehical other than a bike in the road. Apparently I was speeding too but they just gave me the misdemeanor and I had to take that to youth court and I had homies in the court so I got 3 hours of community service. The police would actually set up road blocks and traps for boarders and wast time trying to catch us trying to have fun.

I skateboarded in the halls a lot. It was tough not to they were so smooth and slippery. That was obviously not allowed but they didn't care at all if we carried skateboards around. We also built a rocket skateboard but one of the engines backfired and shot out of it like a cannon and the other four launched it into the air. The vice principle saw from a distance but they never found out it was us. We also would do shit like ride skateboards through cardboard boxes.

Haha Highschool was a blast.

I know there is a video of us ripping through the halls on skateboards and one kid on a bicycle filming it. Not sure who has it though. Unfortunately the rocket skateboard was not filmed.

fuck I stayed in on a friday night to do an assignment and now I'm posting this on NS...

I agree with you that this is unfair. I would go both on bicycles and on a skateboard, this is my legal right. I just do not understand the essence of the ban, why students can not go out and not spend their free time to good use. And if you suddenly have problems in a college, you can find an essay for sale at edusson.com , an essay is one of the most frequently asked types of work in college, so be prepared.

Once upon a time a grumpy old man decided that he needs lots of money. He had a devious plan to create really shitty products that people don't really want to buy. Instead of giving up and getting a job like a normal person. He decided to train an army of squirrels. These aren't any squirrels, they can type on computers. He was able to get them to type coherent sentences. It was super obvious at first. But it would still drive people NUTS! Here we are having a normal conversation and BOOM a message by these squirrels pops up. BUY THIS CRAP! NO SQUIRREL GO AWAY! Nowadays. Its been getting harder to detect. They have gotten much smarter and they are starting to look like normal posts. I swear this one time a squirrel tried to type back to me. But I knew. He didn't fool me.

I rode my skateboard through the halls all the time in high school. The vice principal was a douche and kept giving me shit for it. School hallways are just way too smooth and there are like mini staircases all over the place. Fuck highschool.

Oh man, I have seen so much carnage at CU from kids showing up and buying a longboard to get to class without knowing what the hell they are doing.

I got my board taken from me for grinding a bench with metal coping in our foyer last fall and for hitting our 4 stair near the aud. Didn’t even get to land my 180 down it :(
