Atomic Tracker Warranty

So... after 30+ days on my atomic trackers I finally broke one of them. The rail snapped off right at the rivet on the toe piece. Luckily they still work in alpine mode was i was able to get out safely. Unluckily Atomic has horrible customer support and won't respond to my inquires about getting them fixed. I got them on preform so I can't return them (wish I had bought them from BC.com now). Anyone have any experience dealing with Atomic's Warranty? Or happen to have a contact I could get in touch with?

Warranties always work best when you deal with an Authorized retailer (i.e. an Atomic dealer). You never want to contact a company directly, as they aren't set up to deal with customers- they have dealer services not customer service. This goes for most brands.

Taking them to an Atomic dealer will be the best bet you have. However if you got the bindings on a pro-form I don't think the warranty will apply since that is also a normal policy for most every company. But, I would find your closest Atomic dealer and see what they can do for you.

You mean just a ski shop that carries atomic?

The funny part is that I was just about to release a gear review talking about how stoked I was on the binding. Might have to rewrite parts depending on how this whole process goes.

I'm considering doing the repair myself (my runs a ski shop and they have an extra guardian rail laying around from a repair they did). I'm guessing this would completely void the warranty though.

You got them on a proform?

Have the shop that ordered them for you get an RA#, and send them back for replacement or repair.

If you try and fix them yourself, you will probably void your warranty.

Yes, exactly. They will be able to contact the person who services their area. Warranties (see stickied thread at top of page) can take some time to complete, usually 4-6 weeks. That is also dependent on Atomic having a binding available to replace yours with, which is unfortunately unlikely at this time of the year. If they are sold out, and if you are granted a warranty, then you might have to wait until new stock arrives from Europe.

Damn... that's really not an option. I can't just skip out on the rest of the season. Guess I'll just do the repair and hope all goes well. Thanks for the help.

I thought proform meant there wasn't a warranty?

dynafit 1/2 the weight years of proven reliability and swaleas customer service blows away atomic soli and marker every time

This is true and I LOVE my Radicals, however, you need new boots that are compatible for Dynafiddles, they are quite expensive, and the best way to break them is to use them as a lift serve binding and pound on them around daily or weekly. I'm not saying that they can't stand up to the abuse, but the volume of runs done in bounds versus backcountry is a sure way to prematurely wear out the Dynafits.

well i never used my trackers on the resort and they still broke. My setup is super heavy (ak jj) and I probably put over 50 hours of touring into them this season so I'm not super surprised. I just want to get them fixed as fast as possible at this point; don't care if I have to pay.

Hopefully I'll get a ultralight dynafit setup next year for longer tours and more ski mountaineering type stuff. It may suck going up on a 20lb+ setup but its so worth it on the way down.

your totally right if only my dps lotus 120's or 138's / dynas weighed twice as much they'd ski so much better on the downs

I bet hoj would totally kill it even harder if his binders weighed twice as much and he had 8 more din settings he didn't need

why would you buy a touring binder to ski inbounds except to look like you ski bc?

I'm confused because I don't think he said, in any of his posts, that he bought trackers for inbounds and lift serve days.

And people seem to be way more confident in the release characteristics of heavy A/T bindings over Dynafits, hence "so worth it on the way down"

Your DPS ski, dynafit binding and touring boots probably cost 3 times what mine did. You're totally a better skier than me because you spent more money on your dope setup. When I'm an old out of shape man, I'll probably spend that type of money make my life a little easier. But for now, I'm young and the extra weight only makes me stronger.

And at 6'2 190lb, I probably do need the extra 8 din (if I set my bindings to 8 i would pop out on every turn; 14 seems to be perfect).

And like I said I've never used my touring setup to ride inbounds.

At the same time, you could use your Tracker/JJ setup on lift serve days any time you wanted (even though you don't) because it's essentially an alpine binding with a free pivot mode. Now that I own Dynafit, though, I see the advantages (and disadvantages) of them. They rock for touring and have released when they needed to every time so far, but they aren't as elastic (and skiing in lockout is essentially non-releasable), and the best way to break them is probably to ski them like a resort binding every day.
