K2 PETTITOR VS ATOMIC BENTCHETLERS VS ATOMIC AUTOMATIC VS LINE OPUS
Hey guys I'm looking for a new pair of skis to buy! I'm 14 years old, and about 5' 6". I ski at alta so most of the time it's about %20 powder %50 skied out pow and the rest I ski groomers. I like to do cliffs and am looking to get into big mountain stuff (heli skiing etc.) I'm an advanced skier and ski everything. Please help! Thanks!!
How much jibbing/spinning/landing switch will you be doing? Chetlers and opus will be better than the other two for that, while the automatics and pettitors will be better for more traditional skiing.
i would say out of the bunch the automatic is the best all around ski. all of them are going to be good in powder. if you are going to be doing very little backwards skiing i would say automatic is the best. chetlersr are complete dogshit on groomers. petitors are going to be good all around as well, maybe a tad stiff for a lad your size. if you want to play around more go opus. but i would say automatic
i'm about the same as you but more like 140lbs and i'm getting the automatics for my main pow ski. Something to charge through the crud when the fresh gets skied out.
Do not get petititor. they are gonna be for skiing switch a lot and buttering. I also ski at alta and unless you are gonna be spending time at wasatch heli guides a lot this year, dont get the automatics. Bent Chetlers will be to big. as they are for my friend who is 5' 9. Get the opus in a 178. I ski them and I am 5'8 and I love them I weigh 120 and I enjoy skiing west rustler switch and skiing the chutes and hitting bad news. hope that helpes
ok ive never skied the pettitor but ive skied everything else you mentioned! im 5'9" and 135 so not too far off your size and i own 183 chetlers and 185 jj's (another ski you may want to consider). first off im going to say that the automatics handle a bit better on groomers, than the other skis listed but they are super heavy which is why i didnt get them but in the powder the chetlers feel so much more fun and jibby and just full of life and the perfomance between the chetler and automatic is not too different on groomers as well, i would say they are a pretty solid ski, one of my favorites. if you have any other questions just pm me
Look into on3p caylors they are my pow ski and they rip everything from dropping cliffs to charging through crud to groomers they have a nice medium flex to them and are a great all around ski
Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about. I have the Bent Chetlers and they rip on the groomers. They have more camber than the pettitors so they will be less chattery and have better grip and carve better on the groomed snow.
I'm not sure about that. The bentchetlers may be more flexible. I Don't think the pettirors are that flexy, i think the ski itself is stiff, it just has a ton of rocker. It is for sure less flexible than the obseths and hellbents.
i have bent chetlers as well and they may not "rip" on groomers but you can definitely hold an edge on them, i have no trouble with it, i feel confident carving on them
opus's are the fuckin shit
they were beauty for me all season. they got a little chattery when was charging but im also twice the size of you. i would rather use my opus' on groomers than my t-halls.
Just a suggestion OP but if you want better Groomer performance go with something a little less wide and maybe less big mnt ordinated. For what your saying maybe get something like Line SFB. Just by your size your on the smaller lighter size so it would be a good choice for you. The SFB would have better allmnt capabilities while still slaying Pow.
Just suggesting.
