"chill laps" "just having fun" "a few quick runs"

Why is everyone these days labeling their vids as, "yeah man you know, i'm just kinda doin whatever" while they are throwing down gnarly bs 450s and cork 9s. I thought we were off this trend after CLAIM came out.

the only people i've ever seen casually doing these tricks were pros before the dew tour. So if a dub blunt cork 9 is mellow for wallisch (which if you haven't noticed its his go to trick). its not exactly mellow for alot of other people.

riding through the park, not planning tricks, doing whatever comes to mind. the words "I think i'm going to try....." shouldn't come out of your mouth cause when you are "trying" something you are pushing your limits.

We are getting way deep into this. Plus when you watch any edit you can tell the amount of effort being put into tricks.

Point is, stop acting like you are just chillin, when you aren't. Most likely, if you are just chillin, you aren't even gonna make an edit (not saying that's always the case).

once you start doing gnarly tricks a lot they become really mellow. there are a ton of kids out there that throw cork 9s, 450s and even dubs every time they ski.

i am glad you find yourself in the top 5% of skiiers. yes if you can stop a cork 9 everytime then yes, its mellow. but if i watch your edit and your 9s are sketch/the biggest trick in the edit then no, it's not mellow.

I'm not saying I can cork 9. I'm saying that you shouldn't judge people's abilities based on your own. That's like saying that you can't triple cork, therefore triple corks are impossible. But that edit you posted look good and none of the tricks looked hard. On the other hand, everything in your edit looked try-hard and the best trick was a bad 5. You're in no position to act like you know everything.

I've been skiing enough to see what people throw in the park, i'm not really going of my abilities, more my observations, and the kid went bananas on some of those box tricks, clearly putting in effort. and the sheer amount of these labeled edits filling up newschoolers as of late, not everyone who says its mellow, actually has a mellow day. And every jump line up i've ever been in, including at PC, when someone throws a cork, there's always some comment or stoke made by the lineup.

Lastly, remember this contest and how few people could pull of these tricks, where were all the mellow guys during this, shoulda been cake http://

skiing down a hill requires effort, obviously not every skier has flawless style that makes every trick look efforless. That said, the edit you posted looks to me like a kid that's pretty good at skiing taking some casual laps through the park, all of his tricks were completely under control.

I would understand if someone was hucking their shit and doing super tech rail tricks with arms flapping around all wild-like, but this is not the case with 90% of edits titled, "fun-run-mellow-chill-day laps."

I don't think you realize how many kids can do cork 9s and k-feds without a thought.

Post up videos of people doing actual lines in the park, rather then just clips of tricks. There was a thread of these but I can't find it anymore.

Most of you are missing what op is trying to say... Kids flinging sketchy/sloppy ass tricks that are clearly beyond their skill level that they probably just landed for the first time the day before  DOES NOT =   "Yeah, just some mellow average park laps, just kind of messing around doing whatever."  You're not fooling anybody.

forget all the arguing and points I brought up. I find it very hard to believe that all you that disagree really think these people are having mellow laps. cause they aren't, and we all know it. that's why I kept going, cause i really didn't think there would be so much push back. half the posters agree with me, just aren't making as much noise.

Mellow, is a state of mind; a subjetive state of mind that differs from person to person. One person may find 180's mellow, the other may find cork 9's mellow, regardless of their skill. You're talking like there's a formula to being mellow, which their isn't.

Why are you caring so much? Yes, they have fun skiing, they do a few quick runs and are able to chill. An edit would be boring with norma ski slides and straight airs. You just said if a cork 9 is the biggest trick in your edit then it's not mellow. There will always be a biggest trick so stop bitching. Probably you suck at skiing just as I do, but I don't bitch about it and call people out for good skiing.

 I mean people should stop progressing and just do 180s and 270s in their edits. That would be so dope

Quoting for emphasis, I'm not much of a jump person (and really not trying to claim) but 4's, k-feds, and 270's on are all pretty staple for me in any run.. I know kids where their warm up hit is a cork 7 tail and such. It all depends on what your level of riding is.

I personally think that the OP is butt hurt because he can't do a quarter of the tricks that some people just chill on.
