Threads for when i can draw this idea

A house built into the side of the hill with multiple levels staggered into a staircase shape so in the winter I is a pillow line and the summer it is mtb drops. Also rope tows/bike tows and a garage big enough for earth/snow moving equiptment

www.globalhouseplans.com is an absolute boss as fuck website for looking for cool shit with full floor plans and everything. Spent many hours on there looking for inspiration while we were doing house design in HS drafting.

My parents live right near that place, it is pretty crazy, and the moat is also a swimming pool which is pretty cool I guess.

Pretty awesome place. The wood and white combo are super simple and keep the look really clean. Ha, and does anyone else when looking at houses displayed with pictures of rooms and spaces think to themselves what the most premium fuck-space is in the house?

I lived in a freakin amazing converted old building for a while.  It was really, really cool- the windows were just so huge and you could see down on the whole city and courtyard.  It was extremely overpriced, but I also had a screened in balcony with sliding glass door off my bedroom that used to be a freight elevator back in the day and such- the open beams and brick were really nice though.  I'd do it again if I didn't have to be downtown to do it.

I've always loved log homes, but lately I'd have to admit it- houses made from recycled shipping containers are really kicking ass lately.  Modular, abundant and inexpensive, and metal- which means I can do anything to them.  They really seem to be perfect for many of the swedish-style home designs I seem to really like lately.  Lots of windows, porches and innovative uses of the structures at hand.  Totally cool.

Not to derail the thread, but I was about to call bullshit then I remembered you live in ‘Murica so my perception of six figures is different to yours.

Still, to be hitting £50/60k straight out of school is good going, so well done. However, do you ever worry about the non-existent work/life balance you’re going to have? Depending on your role, the actual hourly rate isn’t that great because you end up working so much...usually.

people who complain about work life balance are whiny bitches. As a young person, you should work as much as possible to plant that tree for retirement. Its way easier to work 80 hour week as a 22 year old kid then as a 45 year old man with a family. No reason to drive nice cars, or waste money doing retarded things. Save as much as possible, live life as debt free as possible and invest as much as possible for the future. Wil be worth it in the long run.

Yeh but the problem is that working an 80 week is not an easy way to build relationships with people. Be they love or friendship.

Sure it’d be great to be able to retire at 45, but I hear a lot of people get caught up in the life and then can’t (or won’t) stop working, even if they have enough money to.

Obviously these are massive generalizations and I’m sure you have an exit strategy to let you do what you want to do, so best of luck to you.

Also, I’m not a ‘whiny bitch’. I’m not afraid to put in hard work and get to where I want to be, but I also don’t want to spend arguably the prime years of my life in an office by myself, instead of with my loved ones doing active things I can’t do when I’m 50.

My house I designed in my Architecture portion of my Grade 11 Design/Drafting class. Missing some details, we had to build them in a very short period of time whereas a class usually gets at least a few weeks to build their models. Spent way too much time on the roof but it put everyone in shock and awe. Aha it's made of sandpaper and gave it a super realistic finish.

In real life the house would have natural log siding on the lower portion, red-stained sawn cedar shake siding on the upper portion, dark grey shingled roof. There is supposed to be a deck underneath the open potion under my roof, ran out of time... Also supposed to be a massive deck out back, but I ran out of time for that to.

I wish I still had the 3D AutoCAD drawings and floor plan layouts, but I never did save them. I might go back to the class to see if they haven't purged their server. I'd love to put them on a blueprint as a poster in my room. Because I don't have the house drawings, I can't fully remeber the specs, but I'll give out some rough numbers.


1400 Sq. Feet. 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms. 2 Car garage. 5 or so storage closests? Can't remeber much else about it, ha.

I also realized that the whole house has been shifted, because the pathway to the garage and front door do not line up; and the railing to my upstairs has been fucking collapsed. 1 ar3 N00b.
