I'll be 40 in June, I can't really do much, and I'm super stoked about park so I think I fit the bill even though I have no idea what the latest baggy attire is.
I'm not sure how old you are but if you play your cards right someday you'll be as old as I am so I'll offer
this bit of perspective from a vantage point that's probably something like ~25 years in your future.
I don't have any profound wisdom to share, other than that I've never been more stoked about skiing and I think that's partly because at some point I made peace with the limitations that come along with getting older, accepted that skiing had progressed way beyond the level of skill that I'd be able to develop and the amount of risk that I could tolerate, and just started feeling happy about the fact that I was able to hang onto what I still consider one of the best parts of skiing.
It's also partly because there are other dimensions to the sport that open up as you get older that are even more satisfying than being able to lay down the nastiest tricks in the park in many ways. Meeting the woman I went onto marry and teaching her to ski and being able to share the one of the things I love the most in life with the person I love the most, looking forward to teaching our daughter to ski, taking ski-vacations that were totally out of reach when I was young, getting into aspects of skiing that I didn't even know existed when I was younger like mellow touring and ski mountaineering , etc, etc, etc.
There's just so many more incredible things that skiing encompasses these days that it's easy to be at peace with having a tiny bag of tricks that's 15+ years out of date - at least for me. Hopefully you'll also be even more stoked on skiing when you're 40 than you are now, in which case there will be no reason for the young guys firing it up to feel bad for you either.
