hahaha, oh man, this is a good friend of mine...
It started out as a bet, but it ended with a reckless stunt that landed a Buffalo Bills fan in jail.
The Rochester man faced a judge for his alleged actions at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday.
This was not exactly what John Lemmon planned when he took a run on top of the luxury boxes during Sunday's game. His stunt landed him in jail, and in court.
“It was just spur of the moment, said Lemmon.
Spur of the moment, about a minute after 22-year old John Lemmon wondered aloud if a lap around the top of the luxury boxes at Ralph Wilson Stadium was about the distance of a high school track, and then came the offers from friends.
“I think I said something along the line of ‘you are going to give me $400 if I can make it to the press box, the end of the boxes,’ and they were like ‘definitely,’ said Lemmon. “That was when I jumped over a couple of seats and starting running.
So during one of the best football games of the year, for about a minute and a half, all eyes were on Lemmon.
“I had one beer since the first two quarters, so this was strictly a financial deal, said Lemmon.
But $400 actually turned into $250 bail money. His friends got Lemmon out of jail after the game. Luckily, he wasn't injured.
“I was thinking it would take me a minute and a half and no one would interrupt me, said Lemmon. “I would get $400 bucks and get kicked out of the game.
He was. Lemmon faces reckless endangerment, criminal trespassing, and resisting arrest.
The Buffalo Bills did not want to comment on the matter until the legal process is completed. Lemmon faces a fine or a year in jail. And meanwhile, because he did not take it all the way around, he never collected on the bet.
