Renting a GoPro?

Has anyone had any experience with this? Does it even exist?

I'm heading up with my first-year ski club from the Midwest over to Copper mountain in a week, and would REALLY like to film as much as possible. First time I'll ever be out West. I have no camera's so I'm curious if this could be a solution. It would also make some awesome footage to get more members.

If not, would probably be an awesome business strategy for some ski companies/resorts.

Not worth it. just find a first or second gen gopro on ebay and buy it. Should be able to find one for under $100. People rent RED cameras, not gopros.

A friend rented one when he had a bash at The Tough Mudder. So yeah, it is about...

He lives in Australia though.

A few mountains have it, it just isn't that common. If you want a GoPro, I agree with what that other person said, you can get the older ones pretty cheap now and they're still quite good. Also if you bought one they are really fun to have for other things too (I bought mine mostly for skiing but have been surprised on how much I've used it for other things).

Summary: Just buy a cheaper/older one, it's worth it.

I work for copper - so I'll be there when you visit and would loan you a gopro if you want.

I broke my back, so I wont be skiing for a while - someone might as well use it.

I've used it swimming, both in pools and lakes, biking (downhill and just like, chill bike rides), it might sound lame, but road trips, ive put it on my car and it makes for some cool shots, i put it on my dogs collar once, it was pretty funny, i will probably be using it wakeboarding soon, if you play an instrument you can put it on there for some interesting shots, (ive done it once i think) it can kinda work with some instruments, any other random crap.

That's a lot of random crap, but the point is, if you're creative, you can find something interesting to shoot with it, even if you wont use the footage for anything significant.
