Shooting Photos Of Skiing

I got a new camera for my birthday and this weekend I'm going to take it to the slopes and try it out. I take photography at my school, but i was wondering if there were any tips i wasn't aware of that goes into shooting skiing, like angles, lighting, etc. thanks!

Try to get cool photos that are from good angles. Also use a sport mode if you have one to get fast pictures. If you want to do something with them try editing them and make a fb page

The snow will throw the lighting off, be prepared to mess with shutter speed

night shots are always the best imo, try to use the lights to your advantage if you do that.

True, if your not familiar with DSLR's you should go out and shoot around before you go up to the hill to make sure your not fumbling around while your in the park.

Everything will be white, throwing off your histo a little and making it brighter/ way darker with changing light conditions etc.

General photo theory applies to skiing, so use what you've already learned mixed with your knowledge of skiing.

Spot meter at +2 on the brightest patch of snow in the scene is a good starting point for exposure.

Don't be afraid to get close to whatever feature you are shooting on, just be prepared to move in case the subject comes of the rail early etc..

Hard to get, but always good shots when you take the photo looking into the sun, and the skier sprays snow and blocks out the sun with the snow. You get great contrast, and a nice silhouette of the skier.
