Looking to buy first gear setup, help me out!

Hey everyone,

I have been skiing for a long time, the first time I went I was 7 I think, and I went to Yosemite National Park in Cali, beautiful place, I'll never forget it!

Anyways, I usually go skiing about every other year with the family, but this year I joined the school's ski club and have been going every thursday for the last 2 months, it's a lot of fun, but I'm getting a lot better at skiing, and these rentals the mountain gives me really hold me back.


I do a lot of trails and can do black diamond runs, but I really like the park a lot more, I have started doing some basic terrain park-ish things, hitting jumps, sliding boxes, and want to do more. I found some skis and links and was wondering if anyone with a little more experience than me can help me choose what skis I should purchase...

I think those were all the ones I was looking at, sorry if that's a lot, but I really have no idea what I want or what I should look for, also, bindings and boots? On a low budget, all I really know is Rocker/camber/rocker seem to fit my skiing needs most.

Line Chronics will be nice for you because they are great in the park but will still preform all over the mountain. Forget about Bacons haha there a pow ski.

Dont buy skis with the bindings already attached, leave the for your local ski company, and you may want them center mounted. I would go with the armada el reys. Great ski.

I found this ski on ebay, it's an older model of the chronic's a 2005, was that model any good, I know this years a quite a bit lighter than last years...

I know both of those include bindings, but I can bring them into my shop and get them redone if they come mounted...

Sorry for the double post:

What about these, beside the fact they are pre mounted- the seller will re-mount them for me for free, and they are cheap, they are a bit short, but I'm not an expert skier so maybe the extra control will be good...

Ok so I did skip over the part where you said money was a big concern. El reys are your skis. But I recommend like the others above me that you buy them without bindings. I see you live in Maine. If their are any shops that have El reys buy them there. Often times you can get deals when purchasing skis and bindings at shops like they provide free mounting or something else. Thats what my shop does.
