...I don't think this is what he's looking for. If you need problems with the electoral system, well... there are a few. The most obvious being a distinct lack of alternatives to whom the majority of americans can relate (maybe you agreed more with Bush or Kerry, or vice-versa, but even hard-line republicans can agree there are candidates they'd rather see in the oval office; better fiscal conservatives, for example). Secondly, the whole thing has become staggeringly oligarchical; most of the power over the otcome lies with the lobbyists, and there's very little chance of achieving a position of any political power without a huge amount of capital. Most senatorial races require the candidate to have a six or seven digit financial foundation, let alone the presidency. There are issues I could raise with the electoral college system itself, but that's a much longer discussion that would require that I not be distracted by class... which I am.
