yes and no. there's actual very little similarity other than some of the story and the characters. the book has waaaaaaay more in it and goes into much more detail with stuff. its also extremely well written. each chapter is a different "story" and it switches narrators between all the characters, and the vast majority is written exactly how the characters speak, in Scottish slang. its well worth a read, i managed it in two days cos its so gripping.

the film however has the music, the acting and everything else that makes it brilliant. honestly the two can't, and shouldn't, be compared, they're both brilliant in their own way

Maybe 5. Great film. Book is better. And the sequel to the book Porno by Irvine Welsh is amazing sucks it didn't get made into a movie. If you like it I'd get that book.

Last night my favorite British film of all time came on Showtime. Long Good Friday. That is the HOT SHIT!!!! Modern movies blow its all about the 70s and 80s jumpoffs.
