Skyrim vs. Fallout

I want to buy a new game and I have been looking in to these two. I just wanna know which one more people are in to before I go and blow all my money.

Also, if you support Fallout, let me know which one is your favorite.

Completely different aspects in game. Skyrim is fun but if you like games like that, you might be sucked in for a while. Played fallout a few times... it is too cartoony for me. That is my opinion.

Skyrim is seriously FUN AS FUCK until you finish the main story line. After that it felt pointless playing and i was all done with it.

My opinion is not at all accurate because I have never actually played Skyrim. Though Fallout is probably one of my favorite video games I have every played. I just love all most every aspect about it. New Vegas and Fallout 3 are always fun to play and will never get board playing it. I plan on getting Skyrim soon just because I love Bethesda and all there games.

I like fallout much more i actually finished the game. Skyrim felt like i was wasting my life and felt like a huge nerd so i just kill everyone and ruined the game for myself to stop playing it.

look into the metal gear solid games or assassins creed games.

i wasnt a fan of fallout, and i never got into fallout games..

depends what you want, do you want to slay mutant post apocalyptic things with awesome weapons like a badass mofo.

or kill dragons and frost trolls like a badass mofo.

What about theives guild, dark brotherhood, companions, mages' guild, the vampire expansion, and Dragonborn? If you haven't played any of them you're really missing out, each and every one is fucking awesome. Never mind all the miscellaneous side quests, Daedra lords, all the different Holds, levelling up your character... The sheer quantity of content in Skyrim is mind blowing.
But then again, Fallout is a huge game too.

I like skyrim personally.

There's an expansion called dragonborn that adds an entire new island to the game (Solstheim from Morrowind, if you've played it), and more or less extends the main quest line. I haven't played it but apparently you can ride dragons and fight with them, there are more dragon shouts, and other cool stuff. Definitely worth checking out, Bethesda's expansions are AWESOME.

Fallout because i have basically 99.9% completely beat everything in 3 and new Vegas. Thats including all the quest, special weapons, add-ons, armor, and followers. I have no life.

I've played both and the games that always get me to play again are the elder scrolls games.  Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, all of them.  You can't really go wrong with picking any of them, and you can't really go wrong with picking any of the fallout games either.

fallout 3 is my jam, i've logged way too many hours on that shit. cop the game of the year edition, it should be pretty cheap by now and includes all the dl packages. skyrim is great as well, but it didn't run well on my computer and i felt it played a little too slow for my tastes.

Between those two, fallout 3 definitely. But if i could suggest oblivion if you havnt played it. its significNtly better then skyrim. Make sure you play oblivion before you play skyrim though or you will fail to see how much better it is. This is what happened to me with morrowind unfortunately. Tried playing it after oblivion and I just couldn't do it. But yeah. fall out three is such a fun game

fallout 3 is much slower to start than skyrim, but it is so much fun once you get into it. skyrim is a bit more user friendly in that your decisions at the start can be altered later on much easier (once you start playing either you'll understand what i mean).

 the main difference for me is that skyrim you can finish the main quest and still play for hundreds of hours after, whereas fallout 3 once you complete the main quest thats it, so you have to go do everything else first (although there is a DLC that lets you keep going if you're willing to buy it).

personally, i'd say get both. though there are similarities, they're two completely different games and will keep you entertained for hours if you let them (ie dont give up at the start because its "boring", and get yourself into them as much as possible, like learning how things work andfinding all the hidden stuff). and if you like jazz/ swing, you'll love fallout 3

You played the game wrong. It is not about the main quest (which was way too easy IMO). You goota do all the side quests first. Like the brotherhood, the college, the companions, the thieves guild, etc. You can log so many hour into skyrim.
And to OP, Skyrim will definitly give you more bang for your buck. Fallout really only has one main quest line. Skyrim on the other hand has several main quests that you can follow.

fallout 3 only really has one though if you don't count the DLC. it has millions of side quests, but not in the way that skyrim has the thieves guild, dark brotherhood etc

For me that doesn't even matter; I hate doing quests with a passion.  I'd much rather just meander around Skyrim or the wasteland encountering random events or monsters... In my opinion, Fallout 3 was so good that it didn't need quests to keep the player entertained.

Have both and got alot more sucked in to fallout then i did to skyrim but i guess it just depends on the type of game you like

I think a lot of you are forgetting Bethesda produces both the Elder scrolls and fallout series. So they're both really similar in a lot of ways.

I really liked Fallout 3, it is, and probably will be my favorite game of all time. There is literally so much you can do its ridiculous. Go search, loot, become good or bad. Plus the DLC is just crazy, it adds so much. I also thought that New Vegas wasn't as good. It was a bummer for me.

Oh and Fallout 4 is planning on doing the game in Boston. You're welcome.

I just wish I could dismember bodies and shit. The kill cams are dope in skyrim. Add that with a little bit of fallout gore and were set.

there's a perk in skyrim that lets you behead people which is gnarly. doesn't quite beat the "exploding body" perk in fallout though haha

valid point. There are a lot more mods out there for Skyrim in comparison to Fallout 3.   Skyrim LITERTALLY becomes a whole new game when you get mods for it.

Fallout 3's main quest is fun, but after that the side quests aren't as involved as Skyrim's. I'd get Skyrim, but that may be because I have Fallout abd haven't played Skyrim in a while
