Not much different than any sport on the planet.

I mean how many armchair athletes are there in Basketball, Baseball, hockey, Football or Soccer?

People sit around and endlessly criticize athletes for what they do. Its almost part of the enjoyment of the sport, and part of being a fan. WHen you're a top level athlete you should expect some criticism, and you should be strong enough to address it or ignore it.

I think on here it just blends the line a bit, because we do so much featuring of the good content from the up-and-comer.

What I would claim is that there's a lot of shit-talking that isn't founded. Like if someone is super fucking sick but you think their style is whack - they don't suck. You might not like their style, but they don't suck.

Debate makes the whole thing fun.

I don't think i've ever criticized a NS'er in a way that implicated I'm better than any of them, and if I did, I apoligize. I don't try to claim anything on here, there are countless 12 year olds that throw down twice as hard as my 23 (almost) year old ass does and I couldn't give less of a shit. I enjoy skiing, cruisers and park, personally I think more mellow simple tricks look better half the time than crazy technical stuff does, but again thats my opinion.

Drop the hate NS. Its the internet...

There's also a lot of kids out there that don't have the ability or desire to take pictures/make edits every time they go out...I know gopro's are relatively cheap now but when you factor in clothing, equipment, lift passes tons of kids are just scraping together change to get to the mountain - forget buying more equipment just to make a few videos

I don't even have a smart phone lol but that's mostly because I'm adamantly against paying for a data plan...regardless, it is not easy for me to share pictures of anything. I would imagine a lot of people are in the same boat

seriously: everybody has the right to voice their opinion. its also good if "outsiders" bring in their opinions. if just photographers would comment photos, i think it would evolve very slowly.

a very good analogy is: how many GREAT football/hockey/basketball players became GREAT coaches? you would imagine that they are more likely to pursue a coaching career and also are more likely to land a coaching gig because they already have a foot in the door. but very rarely will a great player become a great coach.


telling others what to do has nothing to do with your own ability to recreate it, imo.

if that was the case, noone on here would be allowed to "judge" pros (no poles, triples, ...), just other pros or guys who are better. thats ridiculous because the best skier/photographer blablabla would be exempt from criticism.

Definitely just figured out the reason for this terrible thread - OP makes absolute shit edits and people were probably making fun of him. Check out his video section for a few good laughs.

I suck at skiing. Pretty sure everyone on this site knows it. I have no need to post up "edits" of me cruising around on groomers like an old man. Your edits still suck and so does this thread haha.
