Alta/Snowbird Camping

Word thanks man. How would they feel about parking in the lots overnight though? i know some resorts won't allow it and i want to know if it's possible before i make any plans.

its doable in the covered lot at the bird, but ya got to be discrete.

if im not mistaken many of the lots only allow parking during the day unless your parked in one of the hotel lots.  part of this is because of avalanche danger. I dont know hoe kindly they would take to partying in the lots late night, but it happens in the afternoon on the by pass all the time.

most nights it's probably fine as long as you're discrete, maybe bring something to cover the windows. if it's dumping and there's an interlodge (everyone in the entire canyon required to be inside their lodging) and you're caught, which you probably will be because they're VERY serious about this shit, they will fuck your shit up.

Yeah on snowy days they don't mess around. They can and will often ticket you. For your benefit. Slides from avi work have covered the road and parking lot before.

Look for signs saying where you can and can't park. In the alta ski area lots, definitely no. Here at the GMD the GM checks to make sure parking permits are in the window. I'm pretty sure the other lodges do the same. You can park on the north side of the road between the a lodge and the rustler lodge, in front of snow pine, and in parts of the grizzly lot. I'm not sure how they feel about sleeping in your car, but you could probably get away with it if you're sneaky. The covered garage at the bird would probably be better of you can get away with it.

I'm pretty sure they allow overnight parking in the park and ride lot at the base of the canyon, too.

no theyll tow it from the park and ride at the mouth. ive been working at alta for the past few seasons and everytime we've been interlodged my car had been parked at the mouth and got towed

guess it was actually after midnight but still... towing cars when there were that many accidents to deal with? fuck UPD. whatever. tbatt who are you!

and yeah they tow the LCC lot religiously i guess, i know some people who got away with it at the swamp lot despite saying no overnight parking.

we were just there a couple nights ago and somehow managed to to sneak in a night with our massive truck back camper. we got kicked out pretty quickly on the second night but the rule is that they have designated spots for overnight parking, just no camping. if you're really careful then i'm sure you could snag one of the overnight spots, and if the marshal says anything to you tell them you're staying in one of the lodges and he might let you go. here's a map of where you're allowed to park overnight. we stayed beside the library and above the snowpine lodge. http://townofalta.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/overnightparking.pdf
