I like to tell myself that but seeing the younger generation up and coming makes me feel old. I guess I just never want to get to where golf is my only remaining viable sport.

This guy. I still like taking A-51 laps fairly regularly, especially the past 2 years with the lack of snow we are seeing in Summit. I'm not throwin down hard like the younger crew but I feel like I can hold my own out there for sure.

I'm 27 :(. I like the park and like hitting huge kickers.

Seems like most people my age leave skiing and probably don't come back until they are gaper ass people in their 40s with kids and a good job.


Whenever someone bumps an old thread on this site none of the posters in it post anymore. Probably because they work normal jobs and don't ski and 5 years since the thread are 26 or so instead of 21.

Im almost 28. Ya shit hurts more then before. Definately have to stretch and take more Advil. Started wearing my helmet more lately. Thats about it.

Your never going to go pro so no one is forcing you to try new tricks. Stop worrying about the kids/what they think of you and just have fun. Since I figured this out a few years ago, skiing anywhere & with anyone has been a hell of a lot more fun :)

29 here and usually lap the park at least 1/4 to 1/2 the day unless its a big pow day, which really hasn't happened much in CO.

crashing doesnt heal up like it used to and i have real world bills that need paying so i cant be going too ham.

that said i spend most of my day in the park and love it. i see the youngins throwing down and thats great but i already have a profession and park skiing is just a passionate hobby of mine. not trying to "get sponsored" or any of that.

i do feel like im one of the oldest people i see in the park tho hahha

I'll be 30 this year and I just started rising park two seasons ago. I'm still making good progress and throwing down pretty hard. Got my first sw5 the other day (yeah it's a claim...haters) and I'm gonna go until I can't...and then go some more!

I think the main thing that's keeping me going is being very patient with new tricks. If I stay focused on being super solid on everything I throw, I tend to come out OK. When I start doing the "fuck it and huck it" thing, I get banged up. I suppose that's somewhat true for everyone though.

There's also this old Japanese dude who's got to be at least 60 who rocks brand new pipe cleaners in the 18 footer all day throwing stuff I wouldn't even try. There's hope!

woops wrong context, anyway - I'm 26 and only went in a park for the first time about a year ago, don't find progression too difficult to be honest and still like getting new grabs with spins whenever I get the chance to ski. Yet to cork, pretty sure I could underflip but need to sack up. Been doing some trampolining, who knows if it will help but it encourages me to stretch (office work kills flexibility dead)

I used to get hurt way easier when i was in my teens, and shit seemed like it took longer to heal back then. im 23, so not 27+, but either way i feel so much more motivated, ballsy, and can take a lot more abuse than i used to.. so hopefully in 5-10 years ill still feel that way!

I think a lot of people in their late 20's/30's take longer to heal, get hurt easier, etc.. because they arent as active because of their job or something. the guys i know that are around 30 and still skiing park, DH mtn biking, skating etc.. take some serious abuse. if your out there moving around a lot, being super active almost every day, your body will be a lot tougher. where the guys i know who sit in an office all day get a bruise on their leg and need a fucking month to recover, regardless of age..

I'll be turning 26 in March. Just started skiing park last year. I can't tell if the falls hurt more because they are coming at the end of a large jump or what but I definitely feel it. That said, I plan on "progressing" until I am in my early 30's so I've still got some time to learn tricks.

Plus as they say, no pain no gain. Can't expect to learn tricks without taking your share of falls.

27 and hardly ski park anymore but have learned new tricks the last few years. Don't ski park mainly because Kicking Horse doesn't have one, also because shit huts. We've got a natural playground to fuck around on and some gnarly ass skiing to go scare yourself on. Still, I will set up rails and have a back yard sesh.

If I lived at a shitty mountain that had a good park I would ride it a lot and probably have to buckle down and do more yoga.

50 - expert GS skier. Starting skiing park last season with my 10yo. Can hit kickers to 35', flat rails and boxes. Broke my shoulder 2 weeks ago trying a 3. Doctor says he can screw me back together in a couple of weeks so I'll be skiing at Mammoth this weekend anyway :) There isn't too old... just dead.

2 things are awesome here. First you were getting some ass at 40. Second you rip at 50. But that is why I don't do park to much anymore cause I can't hurt my hands/back or would be in financial ruins for the rest of my life. Stupid responsibility

lolled pretty hard.

I started riding last year and rode once every weekend (usually saturday). Sunday morning I'd be so sore I couldn't really do much of anything.

I started getting back in shape over the past year and it's made a huge difference in my riding. I usually ride 2 times a week and while I'm pretty sore by Monday, it's not as bad as last year. I think physical condition has a huge part into how you feel as well as age.

Like someone else said, I'm still 18 in my head.

It isn't a matter of age, it is a matter of responsibility whether we like it or not. If you are single and your work doesn't depend on physical ability, then ending up with broken bones or shredded ligaments isn;t the end of the world. But, you could be 24 and married with a kid and a job that necessitates standing and skiing park with big risk jumps and rails would be insane.

I fall into the latter category and just have to accept that small hits and powder skiing are for this season of life. #marriedwithtwokidsandajobwithphysicallabor

I'm glad to hear there are some old shredders here. Luckily I don't plan on getting married and popping out a kid till 35-40 and ill be working white collar office jobs so looks like I have at least another 10 years of park if I take care of myself!

Way to rock!! I'm 38, started skiing at 17... Back then never went in park, it was " a snowboard park" ! Thank god all the segregation is over. Never slid into park till about 33. Me... Advanced/ Expert skier, all mountain, prefer STEEPs and trees playgrounds. When in park... Can do jumps to 30', flat boxes, small rainbows. I enjoy the air, only straight though. Just practicing 180 spins now on small jumps and turnups. Yes the body recovers slower as we age... But physical conditioning is the key to all! Strength and flexibility ... Plan to be riding like I do and push my limits until the END!

Not 27+, but at 24 I notice that I don't heal as fast as I did when I was 20. Slightly tweaked my knee a few weeks ago and it's still sore. I am pretty sure I'm one of the oldest skiers at my mountain hitting every feature in the park. I hope to keep skiing park until I'm like 50. Can't get enough airtime. The key to not getting hurt is knowing when to send it and when to back down. Once you know where that line is, you can ski park for as long as you want.

31 and still going strong. falls hurt more the next day than they use to though. i definitely am not hiking rails and killing myself to get the latest cool trick. I just do a run through hitting the features and heading back up on the chair

theres this 40+ guy at my hill still doing gnarly 5's with rev mutes on the biggest jumps. And they are fairly big.

Damn you really feel like you peaked that early? I didn't get into park until 24/25 so I've got a number of years to go before I am willing to say I "peaked." My goal is to do a camp like Windells for the next 3-5 Summers and just be satisfied with that level of progression for the remainder of my ski career. I venture I can learn quite a bit in these next couple of years.

Im coming up on 25, and yeah, even at that age I feel much older than most of the other park rats. Shit takes so much longer to heal. I ride in hard armor now to keep that from happening, hard shoulders, elbows, back, thighs and tailbone. Shit srsly helps take the edge off of eating it.
