i started saying it the other day, its mad fun to say, rocket power is awesome, people remember rocket power and get nostalgic.

and is it true gaper comes from bad skiiers gape ing at good skiiers?

Ahaha no, you are also wrong.

It comes from the goggle gaps that they commonly sport, hence the term GAPers, as in goggle gap-ers.

Well with all the different roots of the word gaper, it looks like the term is here to stay.

Gotta be honest, I'm in favor of the goggle gap as the reason.

meh it just doesn't really make sense why the word wouldn't be gapper to preserve the meaning behind it. then again spelling seems to be a struggle for a lot of people on here so I guess it wouldn't be that surprising.

well I imagined it being a spoken thing first, not written. If I had only heard the word, I would write it down as gapper, not gap-er.

Shoebies or Shoobies are people who are new to a beach, often seen wearing shoes to the beach.  You could say they are to beachgoer's as gapers are to skiers.

There is no need to switch names, however. Keep them separate.
